Sure they don't need to but I really couldn't care less if they do. If it's a good adaptaion I'll go see it otherwise I'll just ignore it and maintain only the T.V show exists.

i think that the owners of the shows should be more involved with the remaking of their creations and that alone could make these movies better. i mean, they could help pick a better cast to portray the characters, hire a compitant writer for the story, and the list goes on. but thats just my veiw on the subject.

Some shows have potential to be good movies if they pump it full of CGI and unleash Micheal Bay upon it, see transformers for evidence that this works.

I didn't care for Transformers. It was basically a giant tribute to CG. I'm hoping GI Joe will be decent.

NOTE
If they have a "Knowledge is Power" public service announcement at the end of GI Joe the universe will be unmade by pure awesomeness.

The good remakes vs the bad remakes ratio is 1 to 10 and i dont think that will change anytime soon. (i just watched the dragonball movie... it made the double dragon movie look good.)

So NO Hollywood, bad dog, baaaad dog......stop pooping out crap on the carpet.

( although, with Ron Howard at the wheel, a remake of "Space 1999" might actually work.)

I may not be familiar with the early GI Joe stuff, but that trailer looks frickin' sweet to me. I mean come one, they topple the eiffel tower. Already I'm liking the villians.

I don't see the big problem. If people don't wanna watch the movie then don't.

I'm not a fan of star trek so i haven't followe dthe sereis and i won't watch the movie.

If they made a bad movie about something i liked i would just not watch it. It's not like they're taking stuff away from you just cause they make something extra that doesn'¨t appeal to you.

I am not a Star Trek fan, and have only seen one episode, so correct if i'm wrong. From what I have heard, Star Trek is suppost to be a series about exploration and diplomacy. From what I see in the trailer, it is about saving the Earth (so no exploration), all action (so no diplomacy) and sex. Again, correct me if i'm wrong, but isn't this movie just Star Trek butchery?

On topic, I am against movies of this type unless it is the work of the series' original creator, which most Hollywood grade films aren't.

You are actually 'offended' by the idea of a new Star Trek? Maybe you should get your priorities in check. Offended?

It's normal. As the last generation of movie directors grows up, they direct movies that probably take root in their childhood. As World War 2 and on was relevant in the 90's (Schindler's List, Saving Private Ryan, etc.), the 70's and 80's are seeing a resurgence of interest. That, and the changing societal viewpoint which is increasingly okay with traditionally 'nerdy' subjects such as Star Trek, Transformers, and so forth.

This. I personally am looking forward to the G.I. Joe movie. And my Brother is IN Transformers 2, so I REALLY can't wait to see that one. Besides, I loved the first one.
That's wicked. Background performer? (I'm just assuming, it's still incredibly cool.)

I'm a star trek fan, I am offended by the fact that they are doing a movie like the one coming out, but that got me thinking... are movie producers just going to keep making movies of things we grew up with and adored, ie the star trek movie, GI joe, (if you haven't seen the preview go whatch it might make you cry), and transformers. I feel like everything I grew up with is being warped into a hollywood movie thats crappy, any thoughts?
J.J. Abrams said he was never a star trek fan and never watched it as a child, so his rendition of it will be skewed. And yes they will always be making re-makes, they know we go watch the movies, because they know we will go see it in hopes that it correctly represents our favorites, i.e. I went to go see the recent wolverine movie and was horrified at the utter slaughter of Wolverine's past
(please i don't want to talk about it, just go pick up a copy of "Origins," its a comic series specificly detailing wolverine's childhood and what made him who he is.)
As far as the transformer movie goes, my friend said it best, "The Megan Fox trailer was awesome."
The GI joe movie: yeah they always had that stuff, just never really looked like it. and yeah those two ninjas were always part of the opposing teams, their names are Snake eyes-black one(GI Joe) and Storm Shadow-white one(Cobra). Though I can say that it kinda perturbs me Cobra Commander doesn't have the customary cobra hood on.

Edit* I voted yes on the poll, cause even though I may not like the rendition that the producers make, it may bring that franchise to some of the newer generation and give it life again, cause come on lets face it the old stuff is loved by the people who watched it when they were kids, not by many others.

He works on the Air Force Base where they shot the Desert scenes, so they had him and a bunch of other Air Force people pretend to be Marines. He is a specialized extra...
That is really cool! I'm jealous here.
