They are fun in party, otherwise they are kinda bland and limited.

The thing I wanted is to play golf on it. I play off +2.4, so I obviously generate some serious woosh.

The thing doesn't keep up. Even a relaxed, smooth swing results in my pink afro haired negro spazzing out completely.

And the rest is shit too.

With the exception of the Tony Hawk games, all sport games bore the living hell out of me. This actually kept my attention for a little bit, and was pretty fun. Sure, they aren't amazing graphics that show people sweating, but still fun, and that is all that matters.

Played it for maybe an hour or two. Unresponsive, which is the death knell for an action game. No visual or other interest either.

So, everyone's sentiments boil down to "It's fun to play with for a little bit, and then kind of fun for parties, but then I stop caring about it later." While I share this thought, I just thought I'd summarize for everyone. I do think the thread that spawned this is somewhat silly though. What kind of idiot at Nintendo is claiming Wii Sports and Wii Play as "revolutionary" pieces of software? Good lord, the errors in judgment and thinking on display make me want to slap Reggie Fils-Aimes head completely around (since I'm willing to bet he is making this claim). Software that comes packaged with required hardware is not software people necessarily want to buy. What a bunch of fools.

It's fun as a distraction at parties or playing with your family. I wouldn't say it's a good game though, since it honestly doesn't feel like a video game to me.

I still enjoy playing it with my family.

It's a glorified tech demo and it was free, treat it as nothing more.

Wii Sports is a good game. Nowadays, though, I pretty much only play it for boxing.

Granted, that's because Wii Sports Resort came out, fixed bowling, tennis, and golf, got rid of baseball, and packed in several more games. That is a great one.

But even now grandma is getting bored and going back to watching "Murder, She Wrote" and yelling for her medication.
As someone who has watched just about every episode ever made of "Murder She Wrote" and hasn't hit thirty yet, I strongly advise you to TAKE THAT BACK.

On the original question: I've played the bowling game with a group of people and enjoyed it. I've only ever played Wii Sports casually, but then that's kinda what it's meant for. People who've discovered every single secret in "Painkiller" or "Half Life" without resorting to the Internet are not going to be the target audience for this kind of game, but it suits others very well.

Unfortunately it's one of the best games on the Wii.
...congratulations. As the 20th or so person I've seen express that, you can explain how the hell it makes sense. Either it's not nearly as fun as you claim it to be, or you consider good games to be an unfortunate occurrence somehow.

It's pretty good. There's better, there's worse. I wouldn't buy it, but the fact that it was bundled with the Wii is all good. I must say I prefer Wii Play.

I don't really like it but that's mostly because there is no progression in the game, just the same mini-games over and over and that bore me.

It's fun for idiots who you want to distract for about an hour.

Judged as a game, it holds almost no water whatsoever.

Okay Drizzt (was he neutral or good?).

It is a lot of fun. What's unfortunate is that they haven't made anything that can top it yet until of course Wii Sports Resort which is just an improvement of the same game. The other good games are ported titles from last gen: Godfather, Bully, RE4 but they aren't good party games like WiiSports.

Drizzt was Chaotic Good.

And aren't you forgetting Smash Brothers? Or the other good non-party games?

Tennis and Bowling are probably my two favorite games for the Wii. But that isn't too hard....

I don't see why everyone has a problem with the Wii, or with casual games in general. If you don't like it, don't play it and don't complain.

The thing is, I've always considered myself a hardcore gamer. And yet I love the Wii, my mom had one for Christmas from my dad and it came with Wii Sports and Sports Resort bundled together. I played them both loads and loved it. I reckon they're both great games. But at the same time, though I have fun playing casual games, I also enjoy playing hardcore games. So the two don't have to be mutually exclusive. Just a little thought there for you :D.
