Everyone here would of heard of Billzards highly successful (if you call destroying active lifestyles successful) game World of Warcraft, but the question is, is it really worth it? Is it worth the monthly fee's on top of buying the game itself?

I say yes, it's very good fun, especially the other players.
Could be cheaper, but lots of people are willing to pay.

It's also very good as people pay electricity + internet + £8.99 a month for the majority of their entertainment, if they play a lot.

They should pay you. I've done shifts at work more recreational and productive.

It's fun and since I don't pay for my subscription the price is fine by me. But people really need to stop labelling it as a life destroyer and the people who play it as anti-social hermits. It's the weak-minded ballsacks that are the ones to blame.

Oh, definitely worth it.

Wow gets a lot of negative hype because it "destroys active lifestyles"; everyone seems to have a friend of a friend who was "lost" to the evils of Wow, but to then classify the whole game as evil and loathsome is like banning alcohol because some people are alcoholics.

So sick of this question...

If you like tedious, somewhat repetitive MMORPGs that flourish only when you're playing with a large group, then yes. Yes, it's really worth it.

That said, it is not a game to be played alone.

I would recommend World of Warcraft if any of the following conditions apply:

- You have played other MMOs and enjoyed some of the aspects of them
- You are a social person and enjoy (or don't mind) talking to other people and working cooperatively towards a goal
- You like competition (PvP) but don't take it personally
- You don't mind somewhat repetitive gameplay broken up by learning new skills
- You like experimenting with things such as builds, skill combinations and the like

Myself, I play about one to two hours a day, usually a bit more on weekends. It doesn't "own" my life, and it's not at all difficult to play on a semi-casual basis, so long as you have friends (or better still, a Guild) who don't mind if you run along with them in dungeons for fun and the occasional gear upgrade. Plus these days there's tons of daily quests you can do for cash, from aerial bombing runs to vehicular combat to jousting.

I treat WoW like heroin, it's better just not to get started. Heck, I get nearly addicted to the non-addictive games.

I haven't played since burning crusade, but i did manage to put more hours into it than any other game. So while you'll prolly get tired of it at some point, it's prolly still worth a go if you can spare the monthly payments

If you have someone to play with, and to level with, then you'll probably enjoy it. Leveling is only part of the game. So much more opens up once you hit the maximum level..

Then there's dungeons to crawl for loot, reputations to grind, player vs player to engage in. You could also try raiding..

There is so much to do, it actually can be intimidating for a new person. I just don't recommend tackling it alone. Join a few friends and see how it goes.

I played it for a while. I'm enjoying a nice break from it right now though.
