Poll: Is your first Final Fantasy your favorite?

So, I have a bit of a theory concerning the Final Fantasy franchise. It seems that, for most people, whatever Final Fantasy was their first is their favorite. I'd like to test this theory.

I know that for myself, this is the case. FFX was my first, and is my favorite.

So, what was your first Final Fantasy, and is it your favorite?

Well my first Final Fantasy was VII. And while that game was great in it's own right, I can't say it's my favorite.

No, that honor goes to the second Final Fantasy game I've played. Final Fantasy IX. One of the best games I have ever played. I'm thinking of starting a new playthrough sometime this summer.

I've only played FFVII way back in the day and FFXIII shortly after it came out.

I regard both of them with thinly veiled disdain.

VII was my first, and easily my favourite. It probably had even greater impact as it was my first rpg.

I enjoyed VIII but the world felt smaller and less epic. I lost track of the story of IX and gave up on it, twice. Haven't played the others.

My first was IV, which was alright but nothing compared to Squares very last 16-bit masterpiece, FF:VI.

Final Fantasy 14 is my favourite... because it's the only one I've played. I do have lots of memories of watching my brother and cousin play FF7 though, and my brother play the one with underwater football and the sky pirate one. Yeah, that's how much I know about FF.

Not by a long shot. I'm enough of a miserable old fart to have first Final Fantasy be my first Final Fantasy. And yeah I loved that a lot when it came out but having played the overwhelming majority of the games in the series I have to say that FFVI was my favorite of the series.

It's pretty much the only game in the series that doesn't have a main character. Almost every character has their own motivation and story to play through and their own reason for seeing the metaplot through to it's conclusion.

It's not perfect and there are game play elements from other FF games I still find to be preferable but their absence from this title isn't a problem and doesn't actually detract from the game.

Plus it has the unique distinction of being one of the only games in the series that I've actually enjoyed the Blue Mage character. Strago is the shit and Quistis, Quina and Kimarhi can go suck eggs.

Since the fist FF I played was FF VI, I'm going to have to say yes.

And that's simply because VI is an absolutely amazing game.

I think my first FF game was the GBA port of 1.

...Yeah, I didn't finish that game until I decided to go back to it on the PSP port years later.

It is most certainly not my favorite. Out of all the ones I've played, IV is the best for me. However, I haven't really played any of the games from VI to XI, at least not enough to have an informed opinion about them. Maybe when I take the time to play them my opinion will change.

First ff was ff7 and it might indeed be my 2nd favorite (main prob with admitting to ff7 as ur main favorite is that 10 yrs+ of hardcore fandoms and crappy extended universe totally butchered the original game and their portrayal of the protagonists, i.e: cloud was never an angsty emo ffs people)

But overall favorite would be ff9 though.

my first FF game was FF1

then final fantasy adventure (which i think is called sword of mana now or something) and final fantasy legends 1-3 on the original gameboy.

Umm... the FFX remake is coming out on the PS Vita, not the PS3. Hope I haven't burst your bubble.

Nope, my first was VII but I love IX immensely.
Enjoyed X and XII but not so much I did the DS remake of IV.
