In my 29 years I have noticed this it used to start the day after thanksgiving. About 10 to 12 years ago it slowly finally crept up to starting shortly after halloween. It has stayed there thus far (for the most part.)

I don't worry about it since it doesn't really, in any way, effect me personally.
I am piss that I'm schedualed to work a 16 hour shift on christmas eve and an 8 hour shift the day after. This isn't really relavent to the conversation I'm just pissed about it and I wanted to complain.

I actually haven't seen any Christmas ads yet.

Probably because all the shops in town have shut down and I don't watch TV... but still.

They had Christmas adverts on the radio a few days ago.

Seriously, it's waaay too early. I say this because I am a child, and I tend to get excited the closer Christmas gets, so its a let down when I hear Christmas carols and jingles on the TV and radio but its still months away. =[

Actually it's arrived quite late this year.

It's Novemeber and I've just started seeing christmas crap, normally it's barely September before it all lands. This makes me happy.

Yeah it does annoy me. It's not even thanksgiving and someone has lights out already. Why is there always a rush to take down kick ass Halloween stuff and put up X-mas stuff.

Definitely this. Nothing more irritating than Christmas songs in August.

I'm not a fan of Christmas as a whole, really. It's just an excuse to visit my parents and eat a lot. I'm long past the age when it's exciting and there's no children in the family getting excited about it - the youngest member of my family is my little brother, and he's 24.

So, yeah. I refuse to accept any need to have Christmas stuff up before December. Personally I'd leave it until the middle of the month, if I even bothered at all.

In my country (the Netherlands) Chrismas isn't the main hype, so I'm really not too bothered.

I never cared for Christmas in the first place, thus I don't really care about it coming earlier and earlier.

For us it's the same with with Sinterklaas, we were selling 'pepernoten' in our store in friggin' august. For all you Americans and other people (read: almost everyone else), it's like shops selling Christmas turkeys in august. But I don't care about Sinterklaas either, so again I'm not bothered with it.

It doesn't really apply to me, but, from my standpoint, making Christmas come earlier and earlier is just a cynical marketing trend designed to make you spend more money, which is quite obvious because, in my country, shopping malls are the only places that start setting up for Christmas around Halloween. Nobody else even thinks about it.

There's no reason for there to be Christmas shit out in early October. At that point of the year there are still two intervening holidays (Halloween and Thanksgiving. It makes no sense

Also- consumerism is bad and such and, as an anti-capitalist, it seems like that would annoy me more- but no. Its the sheer lack of logic of having Christmas stuff out when there are other holidays coming up sooner.
