Why do we need it do die? Seems like only yesterday it got on the market...
And even then, I couldn't care less. I appreciate that some people need these devices, for work realted stuff and viewing porn on subways, but I don't really ned anything other than my plain, simple Sony Ericsson P1i. Okay, it's not that simple, but it was free, and I really don't use it any way that I couldn't an old Nokia.

Why do people care so much about a cellphone? I can text and call people, and play solitaire when I'm bored, what more do you need?

It's just a phone.

It's for talking on, I don't use them for anything else.

It doesn't bother me.
This. I'm glad that in this thread I see alot of like minded and intelligent people such as myself who have the sense to not buy into every phone fad that comes along.
A phone is a phone for a reason, as long as it makes calls and recieves texts I'm sorted, everything else is unnecessary and pointless.

iPhones are made by Apple. Of course not.
Apple was the introducer to apps and that shall never die.

(note how I say introducer... I didnt say invent them, cause I dont know that for a fact.)

What's all the fuss about iPhone. I don't get it, there are loads of great cell phones (without the awful touch screens). iPhone is merely a pop-culture phenomenon.

Don't understand this point of view - I don't see how a phone being a decent music player and having a camera and what not are bad things. As for other things (like mobile web access) they're about as pointless as having a PC that can play games is - its not needed by anyone, but its nice. Plus I spend quite a lot of time on the bus playing games on my Touch, and the arguments for why thats good can map directly onto the iPhone (and indeed any phone with an app service worth its salt).

Nothing will "kill" the Iphone because the phone wasn't alive to begin with.

I personally detest anything that claims to ba a killer of anything else, it makes me believe that it's not good enough to get people on its own and must make claims of beating the current leader so that stupid people will switch.

if it calls itself a killer, it has already died as far as I am concerned.

No new technology kills off what it is claimed to kill off.
It's just a hook to get people to buy it.
Yeah, it never really happens. People just say. "As good as the iPhone!" "Better than the iPhone!" When often it's not even nearly true.

No. Just as all those other MP3 players never killed off the iPod, the Nexus stands little to no chance of killing off the iPhone. It's a nice alternative, but the iPhone will remain the most popular.

The fanboy rating is over 9000!!!!

Anyway, the reason it doesn't get toppled is exactly because of you- people too stuck in their iphone loving to notice the Droid raping it in everything but useless apps.

Ohwell. It'll get toppled someday once people give other things a chance. Iphones just have massive market share from when they really were the best by a large margin.
