Mad Men is back!

I waited a while before posting a thread to see if someone else would, but no one else has so here's the thread for all Mad Escapists!

If you've seen the new season's double episode opener what did you think? What are the big plots of this season? Any new elements or characters coming? Let's get a discussion going and revel in the glory of all things sexist, sozzled, and smoky.

I thought it was a pretty good episode. I'm excited to see where the season goes.

I was expecting to see Betty Draper in the first season but, unfortunately, she was missing. So far, I like Don's new wife but, I don't see him staying faithful for long. He is a womanizer through and through.

Not sure what big plots will come this season but, I noticed some foreshadowing to money problems for the firm. Other than that, the episode kind of caught us up on everyone's personal lives.

I love Mad Men even though some argue it is a show about nothing. I think it is well written and pretty interesting considering the history.

I absolutely love Mad Men. Mostly because I love the style of the 50's but the story is so well written and the actors are amazing. I don't do weekly shows though so I wait until the whole season is out on DVD so I can watch them all back to back. So gonna have to wait awhile longer for season 5 :p

Presumably, as you like Breaking Bad, you like good television, so you will also like Mad Men. By the same token, you will also like The Wire, The Sopranos, Deadwood, and all the other shows that are more or less objectively fantastic.

Just where and when the hell is Season 5 supposed to be airing in the UK? They're leaving us hung out to dry here, man. =/

Ah, disregard that question, it transpires that I'm a fucking idiot.

The culture shift is in full swing it looks like for this season. The women were being cross with their bosses in the first episode and it wasn't even an issue. It also looks like civil rights is going to play a huge role in this season.

I like it. But Mad Men is slower-paced. Actually, I'm so used to slower paced shows like this and The Wire that when I started watching Breaking Bad, I thought it was very fast-paced. But you feel god damn classy while watching it. I envy all the mini-bars people have in the show.

The conflicts in the show are almost all internal and subtle. This makes you give great weight (probably even too much) to the smallest gestures. That's not to say it can't be confrontational, but it's rare. So you'll either think Mad Men is meandering or genius. And I could honestly understand either view.

If you watch it, watch it with friends and drink along. Make sure you have lots of bourbon handy.

Thought this was appropriate lol. But yeah, I thought the opening was strong, and it'll be interesting to see what they do with the
whole Don Draper possibly getting soft thing

I have done a few drinking games along with episodes:
-Every time Don vacantly stares towards nothing in particular

-Every time someone in the show drinks

-Every time someone says or does something that would be politically incorrect today (Oh, Roger. You kill my liver).

-Every time Pete acts like a douche (Roommate's idea. He hates Pete)
