I like traps that make you panic. IWBTG spike traps and Megaman disappearing platform puzzles are just annoying.

In Tomb Raider 3, after a fairly decent action adventure with a few "traps" which you escaped by simply running away, I was caught completely off guard by a spike trap in the wall of a secret passage in the smuggler's tunnel (in the South Pacific). The trap barely missed me, and the impaled skeleton was a great touch.

And how could I forget "Evil Genius"!?

Gas, piranha, exploding coconuts, and big red buttons labeled "DO NOT PRESS THIS BUTTON". Plus, you get money every time someone falls for it!

Bridget has got to be the most "WTF?!" Trap ever. Even more than Samus. Although technically she wasn't so much a trap as she was "hey, she's a girl! Cool."

I like traps that test your reflexes (and your nerves) but only if they are in fair places and not too far from a save point.

Probably not what was expected, but there were some neat traps in LittleBigPlanet. Yes lots of them were simply timed events, and if you watched, they would cycle, being harmless. But if you were trying to do a speed run through a level, jumping at something to have it vanish or become deadly was always hilarious.

My very favourite is the last level, its not even noticable unless you're playing on co-op. As you reach the final boss part, to prevent you from backtracking at this point, the passageway behind you slams down when you reach a proximity trigger, which is well clear of the passage itself....But....lets just say the slacker co-op player was trailing behind being silly, and that roof slamming down on them instantly, left me in stitches.

I believe traps can be used well in games, but some games where if you don't do something in the first second you die. Those traps are annoying

Wild Arms has some excellent traps/puzzles, they're what made the game series so great.
