Mr. T for the flavourwave oven, but to me, that made him more awesome. Although he never really was an awesome actor, just a badass.
Mr T in the snickers ad was just amazing.
Also, Richard Hammond, although, he's had to pull himself into his career unlike most actors who are from wealthy families.

Also, Richard Hammond is originally just down the road from me, and he does actually shop at Morrison's apparently.

This advert makes me sad, it stars Johnny Rotten in a butter advert, the dude was a central part of the whole "Fuck you all" phase of punk, he used to bite people and now he just seems to have given up on all his values.

I love that advert and I'm a huge Sex Pistols fan. That's what I love about guys like Noel Gallagher, Lemmy and Johhny Rotten, they don't pretend like they don't want money.

Also, you do know Johhny Rotten is a land baron now?

One thing that does piss me off though, Courtney Love whoring out Kurt Cobain and Nirvana.

Sometimes I think it's hilarious. Johnny Rotten selling butter? I've always known he'd do anything for a buck, but I never thought he'd sink that low. Definitely good for a laugh.

What makes me sad is the fact that they get all kinds of priviliges and perks for not making any sort of valuable contribution to society.

Not in the least. Whilst dependent on the status of the celebrity, they are paid an absurd amount of money for what essentially amounts to ten minutes of work; some in excess of millions. A commercial for celebrities is a golden ticket.

I don't have idols, people on TV are moronic attention whores. They can all basically suck shit for all I care.

nah it's not so sad. I mean if you wanted a little extra cash and all you had to do is smile after taking a drink or walking in some shoes would you?

Sure, it's easy money.

It did make me sad when I saw Iggy Pop advertising insurance and John Lydon advertising butter. I mean it's okay if you need the money, but if you've spent your whole career railing against that kind of stuff its a bit sad.
Those adverts made me cry.

It depends. If it's a kickass commercial like this Mr T one:
<youtube=NySN_plfiNI#movie_player>
Then no, because it's humorous and interesting. If it's like the Johnny Rotten one a few posts up, where they're just walking up to the screen talking about how much they love something, then yes, because it just comes off as soul crushing and sad more than anything.

They're making more in the commercial than my parents make in five years of working their regular 9 hour a day jobs.

Celebrities can suck it.

It's pretty painful to watch, yeah, but if the respectable acting jobs just aren't coming in, you gotta do what you can to survive. Gotta eat to live, gotta work to eat, after all. If there's some supermarket general manager somewhere who's willing to cut you a check to stand in front of a camera and say "By Grabthar's hammer! What a savings!", you take him up on the offer.

Heck, I'm certain that they know what they are doing and they just want money.

I mean, if someone offered me 2 million to be in a 30second commercial, I'd jump at the opportunity.

Besides actors are actors - pretending to be something they are not IS THEIR ENTIRE JOB.
