Paul Newman allowed his likeness to be used for all kinds of different cooking and kitchen products, but at least he did it for something useful.

This option - "Yes I'm getting so upset! Poor people" - is a little extreme for me. I'd thought about it before, and sometimes I feel vaguely sorry for them but not as much as the above option implies.

Now I don't know what to pick.

I did feel sorry for Richard Hammond when I started seeing him everywhere
Well, after the crash, they had a popular guy who had survived a horrific crash, so it was only natural they flocked to him like pigeons on bread.

OT: A bit. Like the Hammond situation above and the Iggy Pop ads. But then again, I heard Hammond got around 300,000 pounds for his Morrison's ad so at least he mad a bit of money from it.

However you gotta make money... Why should we care, though? Do they care about what we do for money?

Mama needs a new house, and a quick product endorsement is the celebrity equivalent to a loan. Let'em do what they please.

The thing with the Sex Pistols is that they were a marketing gimmick anyway. They were signed by a major label to sell records any way necessary. A lot of it was just image, that is why they signed Sid Vicious after kicking out Glen Matlock for 'liking The Beatles.'

But even so, Punk was meant to be about doing whatever the fuck you want. If Johnny Rotten and Iggy Pop WANT to advertise something then the most punk rock thing for them to do would be go and sodding well do it.

It doesn't make me sad. People will do what they must to get by based on their own standard. I have no right to judge. Some celebrities and known-folk get the shaft from time to time but this is hardly a reason to sympathize. All of us will likely tread similar ground at some point. Empathy perhaps but I will not weep for them.
