Exceptional darkvision and navigating in the darkness (without the benefit of sight) are intended as sort of two separate ideas.Lieju said:It's impossible to see in perfect darkness. Granted, midnight, depending on where you live and the time of the year, might have plenty of sunlight, but during winter? And when the city lights are out?Ieyke said:I'd continue as I normally would if I was without power in broad daylight.
I have exceptional dark vision, I'm used to navigating cluttered basement/garage-esque spaces in pitch darkness, and I am dead certain that I'm the scariest thing that lurks in the darkness.
I'd... I dunno. Clean my house? Rearrange furniture?
*shrug*
I spend a lot of time with bare minimum light and am very used to it, when there's still faint moonlight or porchlight bouncing in I can see just fine.
When there's no outside lights and no moonlight it is basically pitch darkness and I still get around just fine. I have developed extremely good spatial memory and know where stuff is, where I am according to how the floor is textured or how sound echos in the dark, and I have weird reflexes for dodging, weaving, stepping over, or ducking under things that I almost but not quite collide with in the dark. I probably look ridiculous doing it.
If I wasn't able to, I'd have seriously bruised shins ALL THE TIME.
