I saw an episode of Power Rangers recently, and I could actually see the plastic swords bending. Funny how I used to let things slide, but now I can't even remember having a suspension of disbelief.

But yes, yes I did try to morph. And also go Super Saiyan, but never tried to lift anything with my mind. Exploding things, on the other hand, is a totally different story.

MMPR got banned at my school. Too many kids karate chopping other kids. Those were the days. I loved watching the series but never really tried being a Power Ranger. Tried being a Planeteer once. Gave up when I didn't get a power ring. Fuck you Gaia and fuck you "we're the Planeteers, you can be one too" song lyric.

I read a lot as a kid though and I did covince myself I was an Animorph.

oh hell yeah! ...of course i was 10 at the time, so it was cool. plus it gave us an excuse to run around "fighting monsters" and hitting things with sticks. then again, that was the old school Power Rangers. and for the record, we knew it was awful. but that was part of the fun.

I had the cheap Burger King version of this that came out when the movie did. I even had a homemade red ranger costume because I wanted to be a ranger for Halloween and the store bought versions were either sold out or didn't exist yet. This was back in 93 when they first came out. Totally tried morphing though.

Also, I was one of those weird girls who spurned pink and yellow because red was a much cooler color. Ironically, I still have female friends who debate the hotness of the original red ranger and the original green ranger to this day. Green always wins.
