Alright, my friends keep complaining about modders on the multiplayer games we play. ( reach, CoD5, etc.) So far, I've played about twelve games with some friends today, and almost everyone was modding in the games we played. My friends aren't really all that good at halo reach or any of the shooting games that we play, so they freak out when they see an entire team of modders on a CoD5 lobby. I just want to take a personal mental inventory of the escapist community. Have you ever modded? Multiplayer or Story mode. It doesn't matter.

no to sound stupid but this thread is about modding, not cheating right?

modding's great! people can get real creative with it. never would have enjoyed games like oblivion otherwise

modding by xbox terms is modding files so you can shoot akimbo m9 at like 1million rounds a second.(in cod as an example)
modding by pc needs ne explanation

i think this guy means the first

There's a huge defference between modding and cheating. I mod pretty much all my games, but I never cheat (on multiplayer).

ah that makes more sense.

think in that case this is the console equivalent of hacking on the PC, something that's totally plagued games like MW2 from launch. it's really sad to see people do it competitively. lol think if nothing else, you should get triple points for killing the wee gits =D

Eh, as people have said, modding would be downloading community made content for games such as Oblivion/Fallout3/Mount&Blade/STALKER etc etc etc.

Cheating would be downloading an aimbot/wallhack/texture hack. You'll find a multitude of these pathetic retards on MW2 spoiling the fun for everyone else.

I do not hack for two reasons. I am not a total asshole, and I am not willing to give any information to people who break the rules of a computer system for shits and giggles.

I don't like the way you use the term modder. Someone who mods a game is someone who adds content or attempts to make the game better, some even make full conversions. The way you use it makes those guys seem bad. The people you're talking about are cheaters in all meanings of the word, including the animal.

I don't cheat though, it's just not fair game. If you're playing multiplayer then it's just wrong no matter what your reason. If you use it in single player then I can abide by it, as long as you played it through normally first.

Modding though is good. People who mod a game tend to upload it to a file hosting site and allow others to download it and add to their game. The community is often quite close and they all enjoy their games and adding to them. I enjoyed trying to mod CoH but I never got it quite right and stopped when I had finished with the game.
