Nope. My elementary school did checks for those, actually. Once a season. My sister had them though, when she was little, so I tried to keep my distance (bit of a hypochondriac) until my mum treated for them, and I stayed louse-free, while my brother got them. Easy solution is to just shave your head if that happens. No hair, no environment for lice to live in.

I had them a few times when I was little. There's something about me that blood sucking parasites just love. I remember the smell of the shampoo and all the sheets needed to be washed and all the brushes and combs got boiled.

As a sort of related but unrelated note, ever had bedbugs?
The stuff of nightmares they are.

Never had lice as a kid. And in recent years I had no contact with those things called 'kids', so I didn't get any of them lately.

By the looks of my arm and face after a night in a Southafrican hotel I had those in my bed there. luckily, I didn't carry them home in my luggage.

Are you sure? They're very accomplished travelers.

It's over a year ago now, that I've been there and no signs of those nasty things in my house. I guess, I'm good.

But I was very ceraful after coming home. Kept the suitcase in the basement/washkitchen (after coming home, of course) and washed every piece of clothing in there as hot as possible.

I still vividly remember the toxic smell of the chemical shit you had to use and my mom using a really tiny, fine-tooth comb to get them out of my hair.
I guess I'm lucky to not have to use stuff like that. The lice shampoo I used didn't smell like anything, and it focuses on suffocating the lice to prevent the lice from getting resistent. O rsomething

...I'm sorry for doing that.
We didn't have the luxury of fancypants non-smelling shampoo in the nineties.

We were hardcore in those days.

Back when men were men and chickens chewed tobacco.

That has brought back many, many horrible memories of that acrid smelling shit and the endless scraping death of the tiny toothed combs from hell!!!

Had those bastards twice when I was a kid, got them both times from the same person if I remember it correctly.

Oh what a horrible mess it was to gett rid of them.

Definately got them once when I was a kid and and had a preemptive treatment one time when my sister had them. The smell of the shampoo ugh I remember it was so strong you could feel it at the back of your throat. Glad I never got them again.

When I was a kid there would routinely be a head lice epidemic at school every year. It really sucked. Haven't had them in several years fortunately. Last time was probably when I was about 14. I had long hair but couldn't be bothered dealing with the usual removal process so I just shaved my head instead.

Nope... Because back then, I had as much hair as Aang from The Last Airbender... only with a ponytail...

Nowadays, ever since I started growing an Afro, all I've been getting is dandruff...

Never had lice and never had bedbugs. Quite fortunately.

It does provoke quite a disturbing feeling. I think it's a natural evolutionary response to be utterly disgusted at the thought of being parasitized.

As an avid hiker though, I've had quite a few ticks take their sanguine share from me. Despite knowing intellectually that it's not a big deal, I still always feel a bit of residual squeamishness from having been parasitized.
