Poll: I've done something terrible... a thread about avatars

Fellow Escapists, I have committed a most heinous act. I have changed my avatar... and it doesn't involve Vegeta. What have I done?! How could I have committed such an atrocity?!
*ahem*

Anyway, when you change your avatar (or should I say if you change it), do you ever try to stick to a certain theme? Do you have any rules for your avatars like 'all my avatars will revolve around X'? For example, I usually try and have all my avatars involve Vegeta in some way but this time I went for something else DBZ based and went for Goku and Freeza instead. Or do you just pick whatever you fancy at that time?

Me, I've been using this ugly chap here in various places for close on a decade now. I'm rather attached to him.

I'm pretty attached to my avatar aswell, however I am curious as to what your avatar is... It looks like an orc or something. Care to enlighten me?

Yeah, it's an orc.

It comes from a little open-source strategy game called Battle for Wesnoth, although I doubt they still use this image. I contributed a few bits and pieces of pixel art to the project way back when. It was the first online forum I joined. Kept the avatar as a kind of souvenir.

Whatever I want it to be at the time. I've had Jasmine, Ariel, Cheetara, Fluttershy, the crest for the French national football team (during the EURO tournament), and now Arsenal. I want an Arsenal kit for my doll. If I can get it, she may be my next avatar.

I just picked my favorite character from my favorite anime. I never changed it because I mostly remember people by their avatars and hate it when people change them so it would be a bit hypocritical for me to change mine.

I've tried to stick to Gabumon recently, just because it feels strange to have something not involving the little guy. Though I've had a few not related at all to Gabu, but they were too boring

I love my boring unanimated avatar. Agent J is the best. Of course I haven't really bothered looking for an animated image of him. There are probably some pretty awesome ones too. I'm lazy, first person to find me one gets zero nothings.

I tend to stick with whoever is my current favourite WH40k badass at that particular time. Iron Warriors or Grey Knights next. Possibly from the hit series "A Brother Captain in a Heretic Land" which doesn't exist and is just me playing Skyrim as a Grey Knight yelling at things for being heresy.

I usually just pick something that I like. Although my current one also doubles as an accurate representation of what I'm doing 80% of the time.

It's pretty rare I change my avatar and even then, there's never a theme to it. I'll usually go with whatever entertains me at the time and I know I won't get bored of a few weeks later.

I could be wrong. One of the regular people I talked to yelled at me about it (and the good fun loving kind of yelling, not an angry yell). I could have sworn it was you but that could very easily be wrong.

I even looked at my inbox to see if I could find the person who quoted it but it's been deleted.

Hmm, I believe I yelled at you, but I'm absolutely sure it was after somebody else confirmed it. I'm not so sure if they yelled, first, though. Or, you know, you could have had multiple people angry at you. You evil, evil man!

OT: No, no real theme to my avatars, aside from being from something significant to me. So something I like. So I'm probably like 90+% of the people with avatars. I will be trying to establish a pattern for the future, though, starting with this avatar. I'm not sure what the pattern would be but I'll stick to it.

I think I qualify as "things that I like". I just make my avatar things that I have drawn.. although that said I should probably draw Pinky sometime...

Looking at the same image gets really boring for me, so I try and mix it up every 2-3 days

All my Avatars generally have a Warhammer 40000 Aquilla or something 40k related in them.

Changed it back a few weeks later after I managed to piss off like half the forums. Now everything is back to normal.

I generally go with whatever individual clip from a video I find the most hilarious.

I'd use the gun-swapping scene from Conch, but the gif is apparently too large a file, and it looks like shit if you try to reduce the file size.
