I loved it when it came out. It was a lot of fun, had some interesting segments, and above everything else, it threw situations at you that were commonplace in RPGs, and added purpose to them. Think about it; the Arena is just your standard series of tiered combat challenges, but it got very personal around halfway through (HEY, if it's personal for the Black Whirlwind, it's personal for me!), and had a very interesting climax. Or the bounty collection for that one guard in the Imperial City, which is once again a typical RPG quest, but some of the bounties are interesting and the last one completely skullfucks you with the most random twist conceivable. Or the girl who needs you to break into the crypt to steal the ancient treasure, which she needs to free her and her mother from slavery. Or the typical, "My family member is a slave, please free him/her!" quest, which could potentially end with you making the former slave a cold blooded killer.
See, it did an excellent job of making the world feel alive and making you feel like you were... doing something. Sometimes it was finding a part of yourself (who could forget the encounter with the ghost of Bladed motherfucking Thesis himself, testing your knowledge of the Closed Fist?), sometimes it was helping someone else or a community and you felt like you were making a difference (yet ANOTHER example, the Black Leopard school and its power schism). It was that style of gameplay that made the setting so great, and hence why everyone wants a sequel, because there's so much potential.
