What were your thoughts on Jade Empire?

Personally, I loved it. Bioware's best game, imo. From the combat, to the characters, to the original setting of Chinese mythology.

I still think that Bioware's WORST was Sonic Chronicles. It was still a decent game, though.

I never really liked it when I first tried it, I wasn't really an RPG fan back then. I want to go back and try it again, I just need to find a copy somewhere.

I haven't played it, but I'm thinking about getting it on Steam. I say thinking about because my computer is a piece of junk. It meets the system requirements, but I'm still not sure.

While I wouldn't call it their best work ever, it was different from most of the other stuff on the market. The setting was original, the combat was fun and the game had a well crafted story with rich characters. It was an enjoyable experience and I would love to see what Bioware would make if they were to do a sequel, with all they've learned since then.

Likely, JE2 would be an awesome game but there would be a vocal minority complaining that it was dumbed down... :p

Good game, but the combat system was overly simplistic. I'm not asking for Ninja Gaiden or Bayonetta level combat, but more than one combo would have been nice. Even one as simplistic as the X-Men Legends/Ultimate Alliance games would have added a great deal.

Overall a pretty good game, I'd still have to put Baldur's Gate a bit above it though. Maybe Neverwinter Nights 2 as well.

It was a fun game, interesting setting, so-so combat (I personally prefer the combat in the Kotor games). Have tried several times to play through it again but find myself getting bored or annoyed before I get anywhere and just un-install it again.

Bioware's best is unmistakably KOTOR(in my opinion) second Baldur's Gate and third Neverwinter Night.
This pre Mass Effect era in the olden days of gaming, now its KOTOR(for me) and then Mass Effect etc...
Jade Empire was good but not on the level of KOTOR and Mass Effect, in the middle somewhere.

I thought that the combat got really repetitive and dull after a while (at least while fighting ghosts and stuff, fighting humans was fun). But overall, I enjoyed the story, and it was great to see Bioware dip into another realm of mythology for their RPG.

In my oppinion Dragon Age should've had the same combat system instead of PRESS LEFT MOUSE BUTTON TO WATCH TWO BROKEN ROBOTS WRESTLE EACH OTHER ONE AFTER ANOTHER AND INTERRUPT IT BY SELECTING A SKILL THAT WILL MISS AT MOST OF THE TIME, like it was in KOTOR series.

I don't get it, why cRPGs use the same combat system as paper-pen RPGs. It worked fine for DnD, but in a virtual world I WANT TO ROLEPLAY A GODDAMN KENSHIRO, especially that Jade Empire had already proven that it would work great.

It's up on the Xbox Live Arcade.
And it's not only my favorite Bioware game, but my 7th favorite game of all time (and yes, I've played ME2, but Jade Empire is still my favorite bioware).
