It doesn't matter, George Smiley would have to pick up the pieces and poor old Harry Palmer would still do all the real work.

You mean in the battle of bull shit martial arts? I would give it to the Pierce Brosnan Bond.

Sean Conery would finish him like a gentleman and get all the lady's right after.

I love all Bonds except for Daniel craig, who's take on the character is just "generic action hero" and expresses himself just as poorly as Keanu Reeves.
Same here, I never figured out what his appeal is.

It depends, Sean Connery or Pierce BROSNAN Bond would destroy Bourne, but if its that ***** Daniel Craig, or whatever his name is, Bourne would kill his whiny ass.
are you stupid? pierce brosnan............NO, Daniel Craig has been the toughet bond yet.

People say that bourne would beat bond in a fistfight, noooooo, 1. this is one I hear alot 'Bourne would just use a pen' That's not a fistfight then isit? and secondly, Bourne has been trained and more transformed than Bond which I believe is a disadvantage for Bourne, Bond is more of a brawler, he has more confidence, he's tougher, more resillient, he'd keep getting up!
You'll have to excuse me as you're about a year late to this conversation, as such I no longer give a fuck about this thread or the opinion of those who have posted in it.

Good day, sir or madam.

If we're talking book Bourne vs. Connery Bond, it's Bourne all the way. He'd turn the $3000 into $3,000,000 and use his underworld contacts to find Bond and take him down. If it's movie Bourne, Bond wins unless they get into a fist fight. And book Bourne would still kick movie Bourne's ass in a standup fight.

I honestly haven't read enough of the Bond Books to have much of an opinion on what book Bond would do. From what I've read, book Bond has more in common with book Bourne[footnote]although the two are definitely different characters; they're just more like each other than they are like their respective movie adaptations[/footnote] than he does with any of the movie versions, except maybe Daniel Craig, who was himself /way/ more Bourne than he was Bond.

Edit: Aaaaaaaand it's a a necro. I need to pay more attention to posting dates and less attention to a thread's position on the list.

I'm bias to say Bond regardless which actors is playing as him since I was never to keen with the Bourne Identity film series.

This is like comparing apples to ammunition here. James Bond and Jason Bourne are both pieces of spy fiction yeah, but their fighting styles and capabilities are quite different. Jason is a killer who improvises and hides in the shadows. Bond is a suave type who sweet talks and while he is a competent fighter, the situations that he's put into are rather idiotically contrived. There's a reason he's perceived as super-capable: MI6 sends him after villains that truly earned their dunce caps with how hilariously idiotic their plans are. There's a reason reviewers like Yahtzee use the phrase "in true Bond Villain idiocy" when they speak about villains shooting their own henchmen for failing. And a $3000 budget, Jason has the advantage there because of said improv skills. Of course, this is assuming they'd even try to fight. Jason just wants peace. Bond just wants to sleep with the women while driving the latest sexy car from (insert luxury car manufacturer here). Unless Bond was sent to kill Bourne for some retarded reason, they'd never cross paths, let alone attack each other unprovoked. If they did get in a fight though, my vote's on the paranoid one. Even if he loses, he'll survive. He died twice already, and survived that.

It actually makes them a truer Bond. Up until Casino Royale, the Bonds in the films were nothing like Ian Flemings original Bond. Which makes Daniel Craig the better Bond.
You queued up a Necro'd topic just to disassemble my sarcastic reply.
Huh. Well, wasn't expecting that.

I've no doubt that Jason Bourne would win if you were arguing on the premise of "realism", but then again, I don't do hypothetical dick-waving contests for characters of pure fiction (no matter how "plausible" they may seem).

Ironically, the original Casino Royale was a comedy, and kind of a weird flick when you look at it.
