Poll: Jetpacks

It is a neverending debate that breeds hate and misery across the planet, and I bring it here - to the internet, to find out your opinion. The argument is simple: if you took any subject (within reason, porn does not count, nor do internet memes), and manipulated it to have a jetpack, would it's level of Awesome increase?

Many games have resorted to the infinite fun of jetpacks to augment gameplay, with notable failures all across the board. Yes, jetpacks can hurt gameplay, but the core idea itself is great. Flying Spartans in Halo: Reach. Stupid? Yes. Still awesome? Yes.

I am in favor of Yes, while a friend of mine is in favor of no.

In the virtual world jetpacks make everything better. In the real world jetpacks make everything more dangerous, unpredictable, and needlessly complicated. Jetpacks in the real world are impractical and have a better chance of transporting the user to the River Styx than anywhere else.

I'm torn on this topic because on one hand: I don't like jet packs because people on multiplayer games get really, really annoying when they use a rocket launcher with it. But on the other: it can be fun.

I have absolutely no idea why you felt it necessary to exclude porn and memes from jetpack fun.

Porn: you do know there is a fetish for EVERYTHING, right? I mean, there's probably a jetpack porn fetish site out there somewhere.
Memes: can you imagine a "jetpack fails" meme? How hilarious would that be? I just got sad because I know that it will never happen.

That said, one thing jetpacks do not make better are balanced multiplayer games. Either they're underpowered and useless, overpowered and unbalanced, or simply poorly designed. A jetpack is best in a single-player campaign, and even then it's something you have to work towards, it must come late in the game after you have a feel for the world at ground level, and it must be fast, useful and feel realistic.

Jetpacks can quickly turn any game to pure boredom, if you move to the skies all level design goes out the window you are essentially standing in an empty room, so then all tactics are gone, half the guns become useless and half of them completely overpowered.
