Jim is opinionated, prepared to get worked up into a very welcome nerd rage, and funny. He knows and is comfortable with the persona and while I don't agree with him on everything, that isn't totally his point. He doesn't come across as genuinely believing he's right about everything, though he'll joke that he is. Thank God for Jim.

EC speak down and talk as if they are the fountain of truth on the matter. Also, they are wrong. Their section on investors and finance made me want to punch them in the mouth because every word they said was complete fabricated bullshit that even the smallest amount of research would show. So basically I don't give a crap. I've watched maybe just 1 or 2 in the last year, and those were utter rubbish, so whatever.

Again, thank God for Jim.
Pretty much this for me. I don't always agree with Jim Sterling, but he has remained straight and down to earth while most gaming commentators have become another tool for the gaming industry's marketing dept to exploit. What was the review score Jim Sterling gave Assassin's Creed 2 again? Now I didn't agree with his review, but I do agree that an average game should get an average score

To be honest though, I prefer Jim Sterling in Podtoid.

I don't bother with EC or PA any more because I don't think they're on "my side."

Well, as someone who loves the show, that is quite needlessly insulting. "Oh no, people enjoy something I do not! Better make massive, offensive generalizations about them! That will certainly get me and my point taken seriously!"
Its not insulting at all. Dont be so silly.

And I dont like Extra Credits, so I dont give a fuck about my point being taken seriously. Take it seriously, dont, take it out for a romantic candle light dinner, whatever.
Oh, don't BS me. You meant for that to be insulting, and you damn well know it. What the hell else was I supposed to get out of a line like "Their pretentious, artsy bullshit gets on every bodies nerves. Well, almost every body. Those few people who sit their screaming "B-b-but video games will never be taken seriously! Wahhh!" love them.", eh? That you respectfully disagree with the people who enjoy the show?

Also, if you did not care your point to being taken seriously, why are you doing what you do next, rephrasing your point to more efficiently get it across? Essentially, taking the time so the point can be taken seriously?

Except for the fact that Jim is an actual games journalist. And James is a professional game designer.
Alright, let me rephrase that: Jim is a traditional games journalist/what a games journalist should be. Extra Credits are a modern version of that. The difference between the two is Jim reviews games and industry standards from a regular players point of view and is not afraid to call bullshit out.

Extra Credits, on the other hand, are the complete opposite. No matter what happens, you bet they will defend publishers. If defending them is completely irrational, who cares? Just say "art" and "seriously" a few times and a legion of fans will follow into the abyss.
Again, BS. They don't take the pubs side on everything. More often than not, they take the devs side. Big frakking difference. Would someone who constantly defends pubs make an entire game about the benefits of crowd-sourcing?

In general, I prefer Extra Credits, but I love both shows. I love, as other people have said, their academic approach to their show. I feel like they're always wanting gaming's best interests, and willing to explore the potential of a lot of the new technology and concepts that gaming have brought about.

Their shows always seem well thought out, and even if I disagree with them sometimes, they always put out their opinions in a well-thought out, even handed way. I honestly don't get where the cries of "Pretentious!" comes from. I've never once felt insulted by the way they do their show, or felt talked down to.

I prefer Jim Sterling. The Extra Credits guys are a little too far into the pretentious artsy snob category for me to want anyone to listen to them. A lot of the stuff they support I oppose also.

I got burned out on EC and the whole "games can be so much more" thing. Jim is certainly not a journalist (not meant as an insult, he is just too biased and wears his heart on his sleeve), but he is a very entertaining pundit.

I really hated extra credits auto mute solution, I mean the ability to mute others from our tv is there, if people are assholes let them be so long as you don't have to here it. The only people listening are those that want to listen.

Taking Jim's side, EC is just so whiny and self serving, especially the way they over-idolize games. That whole missile command is an epic moral story episode is just awful.

Jim took the right side, of the fans (and Angry Joe and a few others), in the ME3 debate.

EC took the side of every other person with a column/video series which has viewers, the side of Bioware and EA in the ME3 debate.

Guess who I prefer?

Also EC have really annoying nerdy voices, it's so unpleasant to listen to and generally just boring.

I haven't yet watched the videos on these topics, but this is exaggeration to say the least. We're talking about services run by private companies. You don't have a right to free speech there.

I voted Jim, even if he sometimes seems to miss the point (uhmm, or my opinion) i often agree. He seems more like a gamer to me and i can relate to that, it`s better than the feeling of being lectured by "proffesionals who know the biz".

Jim Sterling for me. He seems more willing to admit that he's wrong on certain issues. I do not see eye to eye with him on a lot of things, I think piracy is wrong for example, I do not agree with him on the Mass Effect 3 issue as a another.

Extra Credits I really cannot stand at all. I know for a fact that my brother's opinion about gaming and gaming culture are cribbed 75 percent from EC videos. I disagree with his opinions and by extension that includes Extra Credits.

Why Jim of course. Not just because he comes across as an everyman (well, when he's not in his Jimquisition persona) but because he's not afraid to put his raw opinion out there and he's not to proud to stick with that opinion if he's given proof to the contrary.

I find extra credits to be quite doctrinaire and ranty myself but that's true of a lot people in games design. Jim is more practical and grass roots. Out of the two if I found a few hundred million down the back of the sofa and was starting a games publisher and needed someone to help me decide if a game had enough appeal to sell to real people then I would go with Jim.
