So I got a letter that says I'm on call for possible Jury Duty. (I have to call them at a set time to find out if I have to go or not)

So I was wondering, how many of you have been on, or were atleast contacted for Jury Duty ever?

Did you enjoy it if you were?

Alternatively, were you upset/happy that you did not?

Its surprisingly easy to get out of it, even though you're not supposed to.

Though i've never been called, probably cause I'm only 19 this year, and none of my friends have ever went to court.

I've been contacted twice. Once when I was on a training maneuver in Idaho, once when I was deployed. Needless to say, I made a phone call each time and they told me I didn't have to show up... it would have been impossible for me in any case.

No jury duty for this guy. Not even a summons. Lucky like that I guess.

Through I would probably show up if called. New experience and all that.

I firmly believe it is your first amendment right to look at that letter, throw it in the trash can and claim you never got it.

jk

but seriously it is a part of your patriotic duty to report in. If you are financially secure then inform your boss that you have Jury Duty and that you might not be coming in for some time. You can't be fired for Jury Duty. If you are not that secure then you got 2 choices, inform the court that you cannot financially miss out on work days or pretend you didn't get the letter.

I forgot, yes I have been contacted, but I was on the other side of the country at the time.

I got called to Jury Duty a while back. However, I had moved across country at the time and they no longer required my services once I told them such.

I actually have been called for jury duty, and I went in and was selected as a juror for the case. At the time I was unemployed so it was an interesting look at the system for me. It was an OWI case, I don't really feel like typing out the details for the entire case, but we were in session for about a week, and deliberated for a day and a half. Got paid for every day (although the pay sucked!), plus free lunches. But overall I found it very interesting, and I left wondering why so many people want to get out of it. I actually had fun doing it and I hope they call on me again sometime.

Long story short, we found the guy guilty on his charges, and then afterward found out he had 3 more DUI's in Illinois, and was wanted for 1 more over there. Turns out we couldn't know about that during the trial, because that would affect our opinion of him.

Jury duty, jury duty, blackmail, pink slip, eviction notice. Seems like the post office is getting creative.

I believe I was called once, but then given a letter stating I wasn't needed.

Fair enough. They wouldn't want me in the courtroom anyway. I am a bit of a nut.

I got a summons, but I had classes when they wanted me. So it seemed silly to bother with it, if I missed the one class and was selected, I'd only miss more classes. The next time I get one I'm going to send it back saying I don't speak English or something.

According to my letter, you cant be fired for Jury Duty at all, and if the job doesnt pay for Jury Duty, the Government will pay you the difference or something. (Probably more than the $40 a day that Id get since Im unemplyed)

Whatever, just wash your hands.
Ive only been called up for it once when I wasnt a student and it was a simple traffic ticket thing so I only needed to be there for 30 min and I got to take the day off work and get paid for a full day of work, it was sweet
