Well it was hard for me to vote either of the Yes options because you think of those Somalian pirates and the fear and grief they're causing.
So I voted the straight out no
this thread has nothing to do with somalian pirates.

Stealing is never ok if it hurts someone else.

Granted stealing from a band that has more money then they know what to do with is less of a travesty, then stealing from an independent game or film studio where the developer had to sink his 401k to finance the project.

Its just like the "Days of Old" pirates, are you a Black-Beard or a Robin Hood(yea, hes a pirate)

I actually thing that it is OK to pirate on some cases, like for example, when you run out of installs on a EA game

or you lost your original games

or you are trying to run a school but all the books (for your kids, not for the school) are too expensive

yeah, that is how i thing pirating is ok...

but i also said no he he

Meh. I feel indifferent about multimedia pirating of DRM or securom "protected products".

What angers me about copyright is that it is standing in the way of all-around medical research. Because copyright basically is "finders - keepers" in the medical world. For example;
1. Find cure for aids.
2. Patent it.
3. Make using it expensive.
4. Let people die who can't afford it.
5. ???.
6. Profit!

The one question I have is why do pirates think they have the right to listen/watch/play pirated software. You do not need it to live you want it. It is not a necessity of life. So why do you think you need it so bad that you are willing to break laws for it.

Yes pirating is stealing it is taking something of value from someone else. Whether that be an Idea, Intellectual property source code or anything like that you are taking something that has value from another person or persons. If you can not afford it then don't listen/watch/play said item they are for entertainment.

I really wish the RIAA or some group like that would start going after people again but with a little more reasonable lawsuit like maybe 5% - 10% over Shelf price of the product and lawyer fees if it goes to trial. Hopefully some day there will be DRM that actually stops pirating dead in its tracks. The thing that sucks is when companies try DRM systems they get hounded on by paying customers and are in a lose lose battle.
