Just a random thought that popped into my head after having a conversation with my friends:
If I were to tell you
"AC4 is an amazing game!"
which game series would you think I'm talking about?
Edit: Ok people the Air Conditioning thing is getting a bit old now.

I would be absolutely shocked if Assassins Creed didn't handily beat out any other game in this abbreviation war.

While Ace Combat and Armored Core have their audiences, they are niche. There are likely gamers who won't even know what those games are. Everyone knows what Assassins Creed is.

OT: Joking of course, since I would've had to read the poll already to know that the thread is about the letters "AC" arranged in that format.

Personally, I would think of Assassin's Creed first, likely similar to a great number of other people who would potentially post in this thread. While I've heard of Ace Combat and Armored Core, I've never played either of them, and as such there's a much lower association between them and that particular abbreviation.

Now, ME on the other hand...

Been listening to the amazing god-like AC:FA soundtrack today, so at this moment it's Armored Core for me. If you'd asked me a couple a weeks ago when I was playing Black Flag it would have been Assassin's Creed.

While I am an Armored Core fan, recent experience has taught me that on the Escapist and in wider circles, when someone says AC it's Assassin's Creed. It invokes the possibility of Armored Core, but the probability is Assassin's Creed.

Also doubly true with AC4 because ACfA is a more likely favourite.

If you say AC4, I would assume you mean Assassin's Creed 4. If it's just AC I would think you mean Arkham City. That's probably because this is the game I'm playing these days (after completing AC Brotherhood).

In all seriousness, "AC" to me is air conditioning. In terms of games, I would honestly not know. I even looked at the poll and thought "Really? People call those 'AC'?" The people I associate with tend to over-generalise when speaking. To them, the poll would be:

*Assassin game, the one with the thing
*Robot game, whatsit called
*Flying game, you know the one
*(Animal Crossing) That GameBoy thing where nothing happens

Assassins Creed is going to top this without a doubt. A decade ago I'd have said Armored Core, but this day and age Assassins Creed. Simply the most relevant in pop culture right now.

Well with its recent release, in that context, it has to be Assassins Creed 4, surprised I don't see it more often, maybe it should catch on.

None of the other games came up in my head either...

If someone says 'AC' when talking about games I usually do think Ass Creed, unless otherwise stated. I can't even recall the last Armored Core title I played. Besides, I prefer Gundam if I want giant robot fights.

Of course Armored Core! And i always read Armored Core at first and then have to tell myself "No, no, no. They definitly mean the shitty Assassin game".

I never got the AssCred hype. AC1 was ok but mostly boring. Number 2 was even worse and it was also the moment i quit.
The story was kinda funny to that point but it was burried under boring fights and repetitive missions.
