First thought was alternating current, second was air conditioning. AC isn't an acronym that screams gaming for me.

Specifically AC4, as related to gaming, though... a correction springs to mind: "Battletech autocannons come in AC2, AC5, AC10 and AC20. There is no AC4."

Assassin's Creed is just far more popular than the others, so AC is just typically associated with it by people (myself included).

Alternating Current 4: Tesla's Revenge (sequel to the smash hit Alternating Current 3: Faraday Warfare)

I would be hoping you were talking about armored core, but would probably bet you were talking about assassin's creed since that has more general fame.

While I am an Armored Core fan, recent experience has taught me that on the Escapist and in wider circles, when someone says AC it's Assassin's Creed. It invokes the possibility of Armored Core, but the probability is Assassin's Creed.

Also doubly true with AC4 because ACfA is a more likely favourite.

Armored Core [...] kinda... suck?

I challenge you to a duel. Draw your sword, cur.

Besides, who even brings up 4 and For Answer?

These days it's all about 5 and Verdict Day. Come on now, hop on the train to the land of co-op, PlanetSide-esque faction warfare and Rock-Paper-Scissors armor and weapon characteristics.

4 was fun. For Answer was more fun. However, Last Raven is still my all time favorite entry.

To the topic at hand, I would assume Assassin's Creed. As people mentioned it has much more exposure than Armored Core or Ace Combat, and the latest installment in that series is 4, rather than 5 in Armored Core's case.

Personally, it comes down to most current and context.

Assassin's Creed was released somewhere within a month. The last Ace Combat was released 2 years ago. Couldn't tell you about the last Armored Core.

As for context, here's what I mean:
AC: Pirates and sailing
AC: Flying
AC: Mecha and robots.

Even without me spelling those initials out, I bet you can tell which games I'm talking about through context.

Ass Creed for sure.
It's just the most talked-about really, also the best selling really.

Depends on the context and whatever's in my mind at the time. First thing into my head on this thread was a Starlight Express song.
And now that I listen to it as an adult, it sounds kinda dirty. 0_o

Game wise, Assassins Creed. I've only ever played one Armored Core game, not really my thing.

AC is clearly short of A Call of duty ;D

but yeah... Assassins Creed all the way. I practically never hear anyone take about the other 2. I don't even really know what they are.

If you used the abbereviation before stating the game then i would look at you like you were retarded. Abbreviations are used to replace long strings of repeated words but you have to use them at least once in your piece to make yourself understood. Are you communicating with me or just speaking aloud for your own enjoyment?

As a music listener AC is Anal **** to me :p

I think Armored Core, but I have been playing that series since its inception, so I may be baised. I always refer to Assassin's Creed by its secondary title if it has one (such as Black Flag), or if no secondary title, then just as "latest assassin's creed game".

Armored Core will, to me, be AC

Actually I think of Asheron's Call first. Played that for a while. It did some good and interesting things.

I figured most people would go Assassin's Creed and sure enough it's 90%.
