Just Cause 2 was a sandbox/GTA clone (hurr) released in 2010. It had some really great content for just fucking around; unlimited parachutes, a hookshot that could tie objects (and people) together, plenty of vehicles and side missions, and a massive, massive world map. The story was... pretty awful actually, and the voice acting was on par with Chaos Wars, but the do-whatever sandbox content was really fun.

That said, I can't fathom trying to 100% complete that game. Doing every mission, side mission, collecting *every* vehicle upgrade, weapon upgrade and armor part, collecting every secret stash, destroying every govt building in every area... I just... wat.

It makes more sense in a game like, say, Super Mario 64 - you only needed 80 stars to get to the final bowser fight and end the game, but there were 150 total stars available you could stick around and complete. But in that game, every level was different, the layout was different, objectives were different, and the monsters you encountered (and thus tactics you needed to employ) were different, so it added a lot of variety. But in JC2, one poorly trained poorly armed rent-a-cop is the same as the rest of them, and it gets even more trivial when they bring helicopters out and you immediately steal them and mow everything down.

Did anyone actually 100% that game (or get as close as possible in case of game bugs etc), or what? Kudos to you if you did, but I can't imagine there being many.

I personally didn't, but I do have a friend that did get 100% in it.

Lets just say that after the amount of time it took him to take over and collect everything, he never wants to see that game again....

There's a good reason even the strictest achievement only requires 75%. I got to around 52% before I got bored. The fun parts of the game aren't really in clearing the identical military bases anyway.

Oh ho ho ho. That game. 100%.

Yeah, I tried.

I don't know why I tried, but I did. I have some completionist tendencies, but I've never really been a 100% guy. However, for some reason Just Cause 2, with it's big ol' map covered in icons awaiting their ticks of justice, compelled me to try.

Well, I didn't do it. Got maybe 30%. Then realized I was tragically wasting my youth, and promptly uninstalled the game to remove the temptation.

Then, some months later, I reinstalled it and went back for another go. No, I don't know why. I got a lot further, either 79% or 89%, can't remember which. Then I got to the capital city and it broke me. I collected one of the crates in the capitol and blew up something up. Then I noticed the completion meter still showed 0%. Of one region of the capital city. Of four total regions.

So I gave up. Finished the stupid campaign and uninstalled.

Ya it only takes a couple of hours until you notice they just started copy pasting regions, and doing them again and again to completion is just mind numbingly boring.

Almost. I got it for the PS3 shortly after it came out and if I remember correctly I finished every single tedious settlement it had to offer except the fucking capital, which is nigh to impossible to finish with all its hidden crates that only register if you're almost at it.

Oh well, got it on Steam sale recently too, maybe I'll start anew.

And from what I understand, there's a glitch that prevents most people from getting 100% completion.

I do kind of like that there's always content. It's kind of a letdown to get to the end of Saints Row 3&4 only to discover there's really nothing left for you to do with your overpowered self but mow down civilians and cops. JC2's "you aren't supposed to get 100% completion" meant there was always something for you to do. It just needed SR style Activities or something to give you more variety. If only you could mix SR2 and JC2, you'd have the perfect sandbox game.

I think the only way you can play Just Cause 2 wrong is if you go for 100%. Blowing random shit up, doing the story missions, buying a jet and ramming it head-first into a civilian town/military compound/hot-dog stand, just randomly flying around with the parachute- all great ways of having fun.

But going for 100%? No, that's not how the game is supposed to be played. And considering how few *fun* games there are these days, I feel this is unforgivable.

I was this close. I was SO fucking close. Like 200 hours of work, invalidated...because of a glitch.
If you die on story/side mission (mine was the airport I had to take out for the Reapers) it can glitch so when you come back there later, it will never be listed as "100%" destroyed, even if you've destroyed everything you can there.

I wandered, flew and hookshotted my way all around that damn place for days off and on, trying to find what I was missing.
I had other locations where I was missing like 1 or 2 percent for the area and had to scour for EVER to find that one power box I missed. Sometimes (this was before I encountered the actual glitched area) I swore the game was screwed up and wasn't showing me something. One area I had came back to 4-5 times over the entire course of me playing to finally find what I was missing. So yeah, I waited and searched, and scoured, and looked for god knows how long at this airfield trying to find what I was missing, until I finally went online and that's when I discovered all my work was pretty much for nothing.

I have not touched the game since.

There should totally be an option ion the poll that says "Tried but got locked out via glitch."

I mentioned that in the post, that counts as 100% completion imo.

I tried. Got to 88% or 90%-ish, I think.
Did most of the military bases and villages but some stuffs were just eeeeeeh, you know.
Mostly, the boxes for life, weapons and vehicles updates. It was too much of a chore to find them.

Also, the downtown area. No freaking way I was going to find the boxes and the destructable power boxes/water tanks there.

That...that means a lot. Thank you kind sir. It goes a long way in making me feel like I didn't waste 200 hours of my life for no reason. ;-;

I lost my 58% complete savegame. ;___;

Also, I thought that literally no one had gotten 100%... everyone gave up or encountered The Glitch...

I voted for "Yes, but with great effort" even though TECHNICALLY I didn't get there. By technically I mean a good 15%. My brother sold the game before I was completely done with it. I got it on the PC though I can't be compelled to do it. Partially because I can't get through first couple hours without going "UGGUUU I WAS SO CLOSE" before just crashing airplanes for the hell of crashing airplanes.

I tried to and I ended up getting about 92% or so before realising a few things. 1. Going for completion was no longer as fun since I had cleared most of the military bases and oil rigs which were easily the most entertaining part of the game. 2. Most of what I had left to do was in Panau city which for those that don't know is split I to 4 districts, each with about 100 collectibles each. And 3. I heard about the glitch and decided to give up.

Tried, but it got boring really fast. So many areas where I had to run around for way too long to find a little box that I had missed or something simular. Think I got to around 75% before I gave up. Will possibly give it another go when I can be arsed to replay it.

A friend on my PS3 managed to 100% it however. I was so jealous. D:

Dear lord no. I really enjoyed that game when I played it but that map is HUGE! I've never been one to go for 100% completion anyway so I didn't bother even trying. Instead I just tied enemy grunt #2449 to the back of a 747 and surfed it into a blimp :D

CAPTCHA: very nice

Why thank you!
