I've pushed it up to about 96% I think, but grew tired of trying for more. I just want to have fun in the sandbox when I boot that game..

I've come to the conclusion that 100% is impossible. My younger brother was a fiend for that game... He got to around 96% before running out of things to do. Seriously, there was nothing left to do in the game to bump the number up any higher. He'd gotten all the collectables, all the bases cleared, everything there was to do, he'd done.

I'm currently at 99.95% According to the justcause wikia, there's supposed to be some watertower in the game's files that's just gone missing in the game itself, prohibiting 100%.

Took me like 90 hours just to get 68%. One hell of a game though. Am psyched for Just Cause 3.

i entertained the idea of trying for 100% but soon released that it just wasn't going to happen regardless of how much fun I was having. I do know one guy that got around the 90% mark and got bored. I've been tempted to fire it up again to see how far along I am and maybe give it another go but I've got too many other games to play and no where near enough time.

The only game I've ever gotten 100% on was Red Dead Redemption. Usually the fun runs out around well before then. I'd usually get into the 80s on GTA games, 95 in Saint's Row II, and so on, but I think I got no higher than 40 in JC2 before realizing that I was not enjoying my time as much as I could be.

People have tried to go for completion in Just Cause 2?

It's fine in bearable games (Super Mario Galaxy 1 and 2 come to mind) but Just Cause 2 is a different beast. It's meant for fun. =P

Nope. Didn't even think about trying. Doing stuff like that ruins the game for me. Even collecting the feathers in assassins creed I pass on. I got bored sometimes just while trying to get from one side of the map to another.

I think my roommate is almost at 100%. He picks it up like once every few months for a few days to grind away at it.

Oh, lord no. Did not even come close. Definitely got my $2.50 worth out of the game. That said JC2 did produce one of the more amusing glitches I've seen in recent gaming memory. I give you the WTF:

It's pretty plausible. The game never hides faction collectible locations or any collectible right from the start. It's just a means of grinding your way there through a lot of the same running around the wooden village to find that last crate that was tactfully located underneath someone's front porch.

I got around 30% doing just the story mission alone. I feel like that is the only game I'd ever want to go for 100% completion, but the freaking city area is way too vast for me find every crate.

Plus I hear the game glitches you out to something like 99.6% completion.

Here's one I ran into. The best type of glitch: one you notice without it having an enormous effect on the game or your immersion.

Fuck no. I couldn't be asked to even bother with the racing missions. And finding those artifact things was a pain.

No. The whole thing is just too repetitive to gain any enjoyment out of that, sadly. JC2's high point for me is exploring the world, pushing the vehicles to their limits, occasionally rampaging, because why not?

I may be wrong but I've heard there's actually a glitch that keeps you from getting 100%, the max you can get is either 99 or 96.

Nah fuck that. I spent my time in that game tethering cars to planes that were taking off.
I spent my time tethering PLANES to planes that were taking off. I think it spent about 15 hours total just at the International Airport, tethering planes to the ground, or to a lighthouse, or to another plane, or to an enemy.

One time I flew a plane right up next to another plane, tethered them together, ditched them, and watched my plane drag the other one into the ground.

30+ hours in that game and I don't think I ever did more than three or four story missions...

Yep. Totally did it. I have no life, even if it took several months of on and off playing to do it. Protip; Helicopers are your best friend ever when you're doing this, specifically that tiny little one you could buy from the black market. It was the most maneuverable aircraft in the game, and if ya upgraded it all the way, you could get guns on it. Easy to find a place to land it in a settlement, pick up all the boxes, then hop in it and burn everything to the ground and flee to the next city before the military showed up. Fun times.

Do note however that it's basically impossible to get 100% without some kind of tool to scan your savegame for that one missing upgrade box or explodable thing that's nowhere near a town, settlement or road. As such, I have no shame admitting I used such a tool for the last 10% or so. I didn't break it out until all the settlements were at 100%.

And yes, it is impossible to get true 100%. It stays at 99.95 due to this one watertower that's missing from the map, but present in the completion list. Too bad they never fixed that with a patch.

That said, I can't fathom trying to 100% complete that game. Doing every mission, side mission, collecting *every* vehicle upgrade, weapon upgrade and armor part, collecting every secret stash, destroying every govt building in every area... I just... wat.
Did anyone actually 100% that game (or get as close as possible in case of game bugs etc), or what? Kudos to you if you did, but I can't imagine there being many.
Yeah, no, didn't even try.

I did all the things I wanted to. By the time I reached 80% or so, I'd done all the fun things.

So I stopped playing.

And then, a year later, I played it again starting from the beginning. ^^

I didn't get to 100%, but I did get the achievement for 75%. I think I remember actually caring about achievements back then. I have since stopped caring. Fun game though. It's actually not that hard to get 75 percent, because you can do so just completing the locations marked on the map (all several hundred of them). To get 100 you'd need to find all the collectible doodads that aren't near any recognizable landmark, of which there are actually quite a few (even leaving aside the skulls and drug drops that are marked with blue dots). I remember finding a weapon part in the middle of a desert once, so who knows how well hidden some of the things must be.

You are correct. It's pretty much impossible to get 100% completion without the use of mods.
