I just finished just cause 2 and i get this troubling feeling that rico is evil.

after he have killed the president he have given power to 3 organisations and left a power vaccum the leftover army can't deal with and destroyed the oilreserves, and i get the feeling the people of panau won't se peace for a while.

No. He's a soldier. He was ordered to go in a bring the gov't down, so thats what he does. Mind you, his handlers probably are, but he's simply doing his job for the CIA.

What he was doing was taking away the reason for a fight. A moment ago, the oil reserves in Panau would have become the target of World War 3, with superpowers fighting over control of so much oil. By blowing it up, he averted that crisis.

It's true that the people of Panau wouldn't see peace soon, but that was the case even before he showed up; regime changes are violent, but so is just living under an unruly regime.

You are reading far too much into the plot of a game where the protagonist defeats the villain by cramming him into a nuclear warhead and letting it explode.
This. The plot to just cause 2 never mattered. They just needed a good reason to make fireballs and they found one. It might as well have been that explosions would summon Cthulu from the deep city and he would bless the U-S of A. Left on the same island with the same objectives the game would have been just as fun with the alternative plot perhaps even awesomer.

Not personally, no.

But The Agency is. Not as evil as the Crackdown agency, though.

I think he probably is a little evil.

But that's the point. I took the Just Cause series as a *VERY* subtle parody on US military policy, especially through the 1980s. Don't like what a south american leader is doing? why not oust them and install a pro-west anti-communist pro-american dictator for life?

If JC1 established the premise JC2 was where they showed the other side of it.

Unfortunately in the gleeful orgy of mass blood violence, crashing helocopters into oil refineries and three-wheeled tuk tuks with recoiless rifles on them, I think a lot of people missed the subtle jab at iran/contra era proxy revolution wars.

No... He's not evil, he just does it FOR CHAOS!!! for shits and giggles. Or something. Really though, Just Cause 2 isn't really a game with a deep story or anything, at least if you ask me... I think it just has a story to give you a goal in that enormous place filled with random stuff for you to go all BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD! SKULLS FOR THE SKULL THRONE!!! chaos on. :3
