I only have one deep dark secret that I will take with me to my grave... and one secret that while I won't tell you, if you found out it wouldn't be a big deal.

Everyone has secrets, most just won't admit it... If my biggest got out, I'd probably just try to talk to those who knew to explain it fully to them, as I hope that they'd understand once I had explained my side of the story and keep it quiet... no I'm not going to tell you what it is, just that's its in between those two parameters you set.
I'd bail. Go to a new country, get a new identity, start a new life and just keep in contact with the very few people I trust if my 'darkest secrets' got out and came back to haunt me. Mind you, I wouldn't expect real friends to let that happen, but hey this is a hypothetical here.
I almost went the blackmail option, because I am aware of quite a few potentially damaging secrets from/about friends, but I doubt I'd ever betray their trust (even the stuff they don't know I know about), regardless of if they screwed me over. I have my moral code, and I don't think I'm capable of breaking it, despite bad circumstances.

I have told my best friend just about everything I ever regret and my other friends most of it. There are still things I would go to some lengths to not have told to the whole world, but I wouldn't be too concerned either if they did slip...
I trust my friends enough to let it slide, however if they passed that information on I would stop short of killing them but you know... everything up until that point would be a blast. I don't really have deep dark secrets like that but most people know that is my rule of thumb if I did.
Some of my dark secrets are stuff that f someone goes around telling them people will look them worse than me with the attitude of "How the fuck you know this and why you telling it to me?"
I'm not dumb enough to tell anybody my secrets. Hell, I only have like two anyway. Everything else, I'm pretty open about. Which is the beauty of being honest about your kinks, weirdness and desire to do drugs: nobody suspects there's anything left you could be hiding. I guess "misdirection" would be my answer, if it were a poll option.
