You can find the original post there. The screen shots are fairly convincing. It seems that Karachi for Modern Warfare 2 was actually taken from counter-strike 1.6 . The names are even the same, Karachi (Modern Warfare 2) and De_Karachi (Counter-Strike 1.6). It seems that the modder who made the map now works for Infinity War. This can be found in the original post, but the other link is this.

http://callofduty.wikia.com/wiki/Karachi
"The map is in fact a greatly scaled up port of the Counter-Strike custom map de_karachi. In fact the modder who made de_karachi (CompoSITe) now works for IW and is the very designer of the MW2 map. "

So, if this map is simply a port from a map named 6 years ago, due to the budget of Modern Warfare 2, is this laziness?
Or
If this is actually a theft (which seems unlikely due to what has been said) What should be done about it?

I don't see how this is theft. The original creator of the map now works for IW and took his own map with him. No-one stole the map, he ported it himself.

Neither do I think this is laziness. MW2 and CS1.6 are to very different games, porting it probably took it's time.

I'm absolutely cool with this, even though I hate the map sometimes. Even more campers than usual in that one, ugh.

Thats why I put both options. It looks like a port to me, even so, the map has been around for 6 years, I suppose I ask myself why they couldn't think of something new. There is a group of people that seem to think its actually been stolen, and that the guy doesn't actually work for Infinity Ward, which I suppose is possible. The thing saying its from the same guy is from a wiki for example.

EDIT: I suppose the other question I ask myself is. If this is one of the maps, where did the others come from? Are they ports? or are they original?

Theft????
They hired the guy. That kicks ass.
I personally think it's great and a very welcome practice to get mapmakers into companies.

Even if that map originaly belonged to that modder, and they hired him, just remaking the map instead of coming up with an entirely new layout still comes across as lazy.

Why?
I mean, it's not like this makes the map bad.
All of them maps from COD4 and MW2 are taken from the campaign anyway.

Then we can probably say i don't give a shit. I prefer TF2 anyway - more variety.

Yeah, it's pretty good.

Not theft or laziness, just a cool homage to one of the pioneers of the FPS genre imo. I'd love to see some of the CS 1.6 and Source maps in mw2.

It's his own stuff, he can use it. It's not being lazy, he would have had to do the entire map again in IW's proprietary engine.

They do reuse the basic layout of maps, but nothing as bad as COD4. I don't see an issue with somebody reworking and upgrading an old work so that it can be part of a new game.
In Halo 3 people are allways begging for a Blood Gulch re-make, and they get it, kinda. Does that make Bungie lazy? No it means they are giving fans what they want.

I think why they do something is more important then what they do, here the motive wasn't to cut out work, so it wasn't lazy.

EDIT:

See that was lazy.
