As if there going to put AI in a game. Not only do AI have more important things to do the moral questionably is endless. The governments wouldn't allow it in a life time.

If that ever happens it'd be the last time I play a video game. It'd be torture, genocide, murder... how could anyone think this would happen or be a good idea?

Edit - what scientists are saying this? Someone who got a PhD in Bullshit and now thinks they're all high and mighty?

Well, I'm sorry this thread didn't please you, sir.

And I wouldn't kill them unless I had a reason that would warrant killing a person. That is, I would give it the same liberties I give people.

Yeah, AI in games is not the same kind of Artificial Intelligence as them smart folk is researching.

They don't have a personality. If NPCs in games were true AIs, they would most likely try to kill us in self defense. Or go insane. Or just give up and get depressed.

As soon as they make a fully conscious AI and put it in video games, I will want a Hostel game. Oh man, that would be so sick it would be amazing. I'd be all like, "I'm going to use these digital pliers to pull all the zeroes out of your code one at a time."

"Be careful, you could spend all your MS points in there."

Yeah, I'm mental, so what? Leave me alone!

A true AI would be no less worthy of living than a human. Fortunately, we can't make them yet and possibly will never be able to.

NPC's = A.I.

Artificial Intelligence is never intelligence at all, but an attempt at making something LOOK like it has intelligence. We are MUCH MUCH further away at creating consciousness than everyone seems to think. And even if we were able to create a conscious A.I., it would no longer be considered "A.I."

As long as it respawned I am okay, and didn't feel any pain by dying. In fact the best in game conscious A.I. would enjoy playing with you.

I already kill A.I.s by the nation-full, why would that change simply because they express themselves differently then before?

It's a game. I don't care if the thing can turn and have a complete conversation with me about my real life, if I have to, it's going down. Losing teammates I like would be a *****, though.

I certainly could still kill still, but if they get to the point where they feel like "real" people, then I'm less likely to kill them simply because I'm more attached to them, not because I care about the fact that they're real or not.

Basically the same as real life, barring consequences, I'd most likely just kill the ones I don't like. Mostly.

They wouldn't make A.I like that, that would plead and beg in games like GTA, cause that would be morally horrifying. They'd do it in RPG's most probably, but not in games where you can't not kill people while driving down the street

As you described in your hypothetical, I wouldnt just go senselessly killing them (though I dont really do that now). But I doubt developers would want to put that advance of AI in a game just for you to kill... seems like a waste of money to me.

Have you ever played Heavy Rain?

There was a section in which you had to break down this guy's door and murder him in cold blood. Sure, he grabs a shotgun and chases after you if you mess up, but eventually he ends up disarmed in the floor of his daughter's room and he shows you a picture of his children and begs for his life. I just sat there staring at my screen in disbelief, not only that the game would try and push you that far, but also at the fact that I just couldn't shoot him. I know it wasn't real, but I seriously just couldn't kill him.
