I have not made a post on the Escapist and in all honesty haven't been following much gaming news or anything that was so treasured to me since joining the army as of last October. So on some time off since phase two training and a possible deployment to Afghanistan I thought I'd make a little poll to give me some advice, general discussion on Xbox Kinect.

A recent VG Cats comic (God Damn I've missed web-comics) showed me how seemingly unpopular Kinect is and was a premise that intrigued me, even if it was just another motion control gimmick.

How many escapists have bought it or what games they really enjoyed with it?

Please discuss and thank you for any to all info.

Not I, And I for one had bought the Wii when it first came out trusting nintindo.

To say the least It was like a shovel to the back of the head.

And since the Wii I will never trust motion gameing again. Ever.

But I do enjoy playing my Xbox Without Kinect....

I've played kinect, and it works well enough, tracks and registers movement well, but there's still absolutely no reason to use it, because right now everything that you can do with kinect in a game you can just as easily do with a controller without paying an extra $150. It's cool and all, but there just isn't any use for it, so it stops being interesting after about half an hour.

They haven't made a single game which utilizes the kinect in a way that can't be done better on the Wii or playstation movie, or even better on a PC with a mouse, which is why I won't be buying one.

I like the Kinect's technology, but there doesn't seem to be any good first-party titles that demand a purchase. I'm going to wait until my current 360 system fails so I can buy it bundled with the new console.

I needed a new XBOX 360 and I it came with it so I thought i'd give it a go and it was the worst thing I have done but it is good because it can be used as a microphone when playing on live so i don't have to wear the haedset

I really really want one.
For the Hax.

The games? The only kinect game that has even momentarily caught my fancy was the cuteness of Kinectimals, but then I felt dead inside as my eyes wandered to the box containing the ashes of my late dog, and I realized I was partaking in a soulless mimicry of interspecies familial bonds.

I don't have an XBOX and I considered buying a Kinect just for hacking purposes, but I just don't have the space for one. My PC is in a fairly large study, but jammed full of books, cameras and PCs it's not big enough for the Kinect, hell my living room isn't big enough to set up a Kinect even if I had an XBOX.

I own one, it came with my new XBOX 360, but I still haven't bothered to set it up yet. Their doesn't seem to be any good games for it all except for maybe Dance Central and that doesn't appeal to me. So currently their is no reason for me to bother.

I was looking at it, but I could never justify spending 150$ so I could play a dance game and some crappy games.

I sold my Xbox, so now it's never gone to be used by me. The final nail in the coffin was probably that my room didn't meet the space requirements for it.

I bought one of those newshape 360/Kinect bundles for my sisters at Christmas. I was actually quite impressed with the whole menu selection doohickey, very Minority Report.

Your poll needs an option for:"My room is too small for the space requirements. And even if it wasn't, I would rather shoot myself in the dick with a piranha-gun than flail around like a spaz to play pretend-kayaking indoors."

So, no, I've never owned one, played on one or wanted to. I was presented with the opportunity to try it twice and couldn't be bothered.

My 5 year-old Xbox died on me, so I got it bundled with the Xbox slim, just because. It is fun, in a half legitimate, half ironic way. It is fun when played with friends or family members, but I have never played it on my own time. I probably will when some of the core titles release on it though.

I beta tested it and microsoft was kind enough to let me keep the final retail hardware and some software. I play it and use it for netflix

I have absolutely no intention to try one or buy one.

Well, except for Gunstringer, a third-person shooter by Twisted Pixel (the 'Splosion Man/The Maw guys) where you control a marionette in a spaghetti western environment. How does that not sound incredible?

I hate people who use kinect instead of a headset. You can hear everything that's going on in their house and they always sound like they're underwater.

Me n my gf love kinect, apart from the lack of games out for it I still enjoy it and.it works up a sweat burning off all them unwanted calories, needless to say we both play that fitness evolved thing n kinect sports :). Technically I can't find faults with it, it tracks every movement perfectly. I enjoy it anyway :)
