I just had a scary thought: When I played WoW there was a unique mix of the every day common joe, some outcast kid, and that random geeky kid that nobody wanted to play with...

On the Vent server for The Old Republic...you're going to have kids who either only know the the PT portion of Star Wars or the bottom layer of geeks.

Why?

We have done this thread sooooooooooo maaaaanny tiiiiiiiimmes. I'm a ridiculous BioWare fangirl (I'm running an Old Republic RP in the RP section) and even I think this topic is a complete dead horse. Should they have made KOTOR III? Who cares whether they should? They DIDN'T. Should they have made a KOTOR MMO? Who cares whether they should? They DID. It's a done deal. I could see the point of arguing about it a year ago, but at this point what difference does it make?

Long story short: the Search Forums feature is lonely and wants you to use it more.

Just because they are making a KOTOR MMO, doesn't mean there will never be a KOTOR III guys. The Old Republic is taking place a few hundred years after KOTOR II, that leaves plenty of time to fit in another story related to Revan and the bunch.

My guess is for the MMO is the force powers would be dumbed down.

Why can't they just make it an RPG like the others with MMO capabilities? Then everyone is happy.

I liked KOTOR 1&2...but I loath MMO's, no story, and so incredibly tedious...not to mention the fact that they waste the time I could be doing stuff with actual people

It's Bioware, i would prefer a different path but I'm confident that they'll do something right with The Old Republic, I've never played a Bioware game i didn't like, so, how bad can they fuck this up?......I'll regret this later.

Being slightly against MMOs as a kind of digitalised crack, and having an equally slight loathing for Biowhore as the makers of NWN1 and for their general all-around mediocrity, in particular in the storytelling/dialogue department, I may have a slight bias. I also really, really like KotOR I and II, so I may also be somewhat biased there, too, when I say that the only way they're getting my custom is with an SPRPG KotOR III.

I'm very very tired of MMO's.

One of my best gaming experiences ever was KOTOR. I loved every minute of that game, one of my all time favorites. The way you would really start to give a crap what happened to each of the characters amazed me. It was the first time I actually really gave a shit about any of the other characters in a game besides the one I was playing. I was really hoping for a KOTOR 3 to take off on Revan again, wanted to see what was going on with him in the far reaches of the galaxy. I hated KOTOR 2 so I was really hoping for another Bioware story in the KOTOR series.

I'll still play the MMO, i'll just ***** and moan about it on their forums like everyone in WoW does on the blizzard forums, All fucking day..

I haven't played KOTOR (still want to), I will play the MMO and I have a decent amount of experience with MMO's and I will say: please, for the fans, make a true KOTOR 3. You just can't translate a singleplayer experience in an MMO, epecially not story wise.

I love how people criticize this game when it's over a year away from completion and you know very little about it. If you can, read this months PC Gamer UK as it has a very nice preview of the game which shows it's not shaping up to be another WoW clone.

Each class of each faction has a unique storyline, so that's 8 different story lines to play for a start.

Just saying MMO's = shit and condemning the entire game before you know anything about it is the kinda of reactionary bullshit you'd expect from console gamers not cultured people who play KOTOR.

You may be right about accusations of being a WoW-clone; however it is fair to say, based on Bioware's track record, that the game will have strictly railroaded story, characters ripped off from the first KotOR, the most banal, "epic" storyline they can come up with, fedex-dominated, lazy quest design, etc.

To say the least.

They could still make a KOTOR 3 without jepordizing the MMO, it takes some three hundred years after the first two.

Star Wars already has an MMO so the least they could do is make it like the other ones but give it some sort of online or something.

Thought the story was terrible and incomplete, to say the least. And I didn't really like the Exile at all, in addition to that the companions were just annoying. Atton, Brianna, Mira, so on, they were all unappealing to me.

The story wasn't incomplete, though, and is of far greater depth than the first game's; and in what way are the characters "annoying"? I'm not sure they can really all be characterised as anything; they're all fairly diverse.
