I hate to say it but, Kratos wins this.

The guy is a ruthless asshole. he would probably cut Ganon's hands off and then shove the fingers of his severed hands into his eye sockets and then impale him with Zelda who would be impaled with Link. *rolls eyes* fuck I hate this character.

I love Zelda and don't care about God of War, but I'd have to say Kratos.

He's killed many gods and I think titans too; Ganondorf has pretended to be a god, and frequently gets beaten by a child/teenager.

So yeah, as much as I like Ganondorf; Kratos would destroy him. :p

Do they really block vs. threads here? Those are some of the best threads!

Anyway, hands down Kratos, considering Ganondorf has been beaten by a 12 year old boy about 20 times now.

That being said, I have a feeling that when Ganon sees Kratos rip off a Chimera's horn and stab him through the brain with it, he'd just say "fuck this, I'm going home" and get the hell out of dodge.

Kratos would make a HILARIOUS mess of Ganondorf.

Kratos wins.
No contest.

Ganon is regularly killed by an elf kid that gets murdered by chickens.
Ganon is less deadly than a flock of chickens.

Kratos murdered an entire pantheon of gods and Titans. He effortlessly kills things that Link would consider a major obstacle.

According the the Zelda Wiki "the only one capable of defeating Ganon is the Hero chosen by the goddesses." As mentioned above, there is no way Din, Nayru, and Farore would ever find Kratos worthy. In addition, Ganondorf is also the manifestation of the hatred of the Demon King Demise towards the goddess Hylia (Zelda) and her chosen hero (Link). Because of this, as long as Link and Zelda are reincarnated, Gannondorf will be as well.
The rulings of gods are completely irrelevant to a guy who slaughters gods.
He gives no shits about being "worthy".
He'll just kill the goddesses too.
Link and Zelda would probably just be casualties of the collateral damage of another fight Kratos was having.

Kratos is a deicidal god/demigod. His business is making destiny his ***** and killing the most powerful things in the universe.

Without the Master Sword or the Light/Silver arrows, there is nothing in Kratos's arsenal capable of permanently stopping Gannondorf. In addition while Kratos may be capable of solving some of the most complex puzzles the Greek Gods have to offer, he's not that smart. How many times throughout the series has he been manipulated by other or used as some pawn for a god/titan. Plus, he has a tendency to start smashing and killing things when things don't go his way, like some angsty whiny teenager. Gannondorf on the other hand has conquered Hyrule in two separate timelines and scared the goddesses so badly in another that they flooded Hyrule to try and stop him.

Ganondorf can only be hurt by the Master Sword, Light/Silver Arrows and these need to be used by either the holder of the Tri-Force of Courage or Wisdom.
While Kratos could go get the arrows he won't be able to get the sword or Tri force by that fact alone he won't be able to even hurt Ganondorf, let alone fight Ganon... still Kratos can decimate Ganondorf's entire army and defeat all the dungeon bosses thus leaving Ganondorf without an army to take over Hyrule

Kratos kills gods. He is a god.
He does not give shits about "oh but u need duh Mastah Sowd".
Kratos kills intangible wraiths with his bare hands. He rips gods' heads off and gouges out their eyes with his thumbs.
There is no being in the Legend Of Zelda universe that Kratos couldn't slaughter.

Why can Ganondorf only be hurt by the master sword though? Is it because it has divine power? Plot convenience? If the power of a god is necessary to kill Ganondorf, why couldn't he be killed by Kratos, whose power exceeds that of gods?

Whether or not Kratos cares is irrelevant, he can't kill Ganandorf without the Master Sword. That's just the way it is lol.

Kratos is obviously more powerful, but I do agree that Ganondorf has that whole immortality thing working for him.

Though, and I am loathe to bring this up, I would argue that the "Hope" Kratos obtained from Pandora's Box could override Ganon's rather specific weaknesses. That's a big "IF" of course, but I digress.

Except that he CAN. Without trouble.
Kratos is beyond mortal limitations of needing something specific.

Well, I wan't very good at God of War so Kratos never ended up doing those things.

I say Ganondorf wins because Kratos always died to random mobs...

I never knew that they blocked vs. threads, although I think I'm starting to see why...

In any case, yes, Kratos is powerful, yes, he can kill many gods, but when your foe is Ganondorf, who can't be killed except by Light/Divine arrows and the Master Sword, which Kratos cannot use because of his evil nature, then it's only a matter of time before the King of Evil is victorious.

It's like with the Kratos vs Spawn battle. Yes, Kratos is powerful, yes, he has killed beings with just as much power as the foe before him, but unlike those beings, this particular fighter cannot be killed by Kratos' standard repertoire; only this time, even if Kratos COULD find the blade to bring down the King of Evil, he won't be able to wield it, especially since it might try to kill him.

So, yeah, Kratos might be able to beat Ganondorf from here to Lordran, he might not; doesn't matter, he cannot kill Ganon. There is nothing that stops the Gerudo leader from killing the new God of War.

Edit: #IStandWithGanondorf

All I have to say is, someone should go make a "God of Hyrule" game.

Kratos: "Ganondorf will die by MY hand!!"

Villager: "Ah yes! Wonderful, but you cannot do it without the proper holy weapons."

Kratos: "TELL me where they are!!"

Villager: "The holy blades of Chaos are stored in the Temple of Trials, but it is magically sealed. To open it, you'll need the Icon of Chaos, which is guarded by the God of chaos in the Chaos Temple, which is hidden from all who do not possess the magic flute, which is enshrined inside the buried yada yada yada..."

Ultimately, it would end with Kratos having to kill every god in Hyrule to acquire all the items he needs to get the weapons to defeat Ganondorf and leave Hyrule as a flaming pile of rubble.

Or in my case, Kratos always walked away in bored disappointment because bosses had too much health and no health bars.

I have to say, I like the mental image of Kratos breaking the stone pedestal holding the master sword, holding it by the stone that is still attached to the blade and beating the crap out of Ganondorf by swinging the hilt/pommel of the sword at him.

One thing that I've never understood about God of War is how people attribute Kratos leaving Hades as an example of him being unstoppable in comparison to anything.

He dies, as in loses. then gets sent to the afterlife.

He leaves Hades because in this universe it's a thing that is physically possible to do. Anyone of sufficient skill and power can do the same in the God of War Universe. If Link died there he would have the same chance to escape, so would any hero or powerful character. It's comparable to the afterlife of the DBZ Universe as in if you get the chance or permission you can force your way out.

As opposed to dying to a 12 year old?

Ganondorf. Kratos is but a child compared to a literal king of darkness who can only be beaten by Hylia's champion wielding the Master Sword or the Arrows of Light. And Kratos doesn't have any of that. Ganondorf would just go "Who the HELL are you?" before flicking the dumb, bald bastard off his castle.
