Poll: L or Kira? (Spoilers involving Death Note)

Recently my friends have been bringing this up and since am a huge fan of the death note verse I always join in.

So whose side were you on? I always need a second to think when I consider that it was said "Crime has dropped 70% since I started" Like that is crazy like 70%. We also know that despite Light being crazy he believes we are all entitled to our pursuit of happiness but some people can?t because of the rotten people that taint everything. Then trust me there?s another very convincing side to L's side even though he is a little selfish but that is what makes this so interesting.

So who's side are you on? When you read the last page or watched what went through your head?

L all the way. Light was a bastard, no matter what his intentions were for a world without crime. He was cold, calculating, manipulated everyone and when it came to covering his tracks he had no qualms about killing anyone/letting them die, even those who should've meant something to him which, in the end, makes him no better than the people he was killing.

He was a weird and very likable Hero.
He had a very unique way of doing things and was one of the most intelligent characters iv ever seen in a Story.

Kira started out with noble ideas but became egotistical.
He let the power he had go to his head and in the end he became nothing more than a sniveling little worm before he Died.

What about L's little care for human life as well as his selfish desire not to help the world but rather entertain himself, thus he paraelles with Light who also parelles with Ryuk.

Breaking the "law" he fights to protect.
Feeling elitist as well as being as egotistical as light.
Immaturity, as in seeing life and death as a game.


However I believe the flaws of Light and L are about the same except expressed differently based on where they get there power from. I am more of a Kira supporter because believe it or not Kira was at least trying to do good in the world, whereas L was using his power to just prevent himself from boredom.

Both Kira and L were cold and manipulative, but Kira betrayed nearly all of the people who cared for or loved him. Not to mention the excitement he felt when he killed someone (even from the very beginning).

I liked Light from the very start. Though, L's cool too, but I just like Light waaaaaay more.

On sheer insanity, I'd go with Kira/Light. He just gets so deliciously crazy and becomes completely insane with his own power towards the end that the ending where Light is finally killed by the "buttmonkey" Matsuda (hey, it said spoilers!), I felt it was a perfect ending to the reign of terror that Kira had brought.

On a morality viewpoint, I'd go with L. Light, while starting with good intentions, ends up destroying everyone who gets in his way and develops his own Messiah/God Complex that ultimately leads to his downfall. As Near had put it, if he had just killed off a few people it would be understandable, humans are naturally curious creatures. But in the end, Kira was just a mass-murderer taking advantage of everyone he could.

Kira had the right idea but got lost along the way. I loved the story up till L died everything after that I totally hated and made me sad to see something so good turn so bad. Animes like to do that....

L. While both of them were neither completely good or bad, they both did have the actual good of humanity in their sights. While L might have had a disregard for life, Light was unloyal and underhanded. Not to mention that he eventually imposed his will over the entire world. Yes, crime went down seventy percent, but everyone was living in fear. Light killed anyone that found out who he was and even conspired to kill the people that trusted him. L confided in the people he worked with and hoped that they would trust him no matter what. Also, Light was just a little bit pyscho, especially when he killed someone.
