Who voted for "ignore the Tank"? When would that ever work? :p

I'd do what everyone else does online: run away and perforate the hulking beast with bullets.
Yahtzee might be able to ignore the tank to death.
thats awesome anyway I would run in circles till it goes for one of my close-by teammates then shoot it

"Fuck there's a tank! Throw the fucking moly! NOW! Fuck! Fuck! FUCK! I'm down, get me up, fucking hurry! Shit he got you too, quick get me up before-

Fuck."

^

My general response when playing the L4D2 demo on expert.

It depends on the type of Tank. Campain Tanks and Newb Verses Mode Tanks, I tell all my allies to back off, get out whatever gun looks the best for melee, and Ninja the mother fucker. :p (Ninja'ing should be an option, since against newbs, dodging their fists with sporatic movement is quite awesome to do and watch. I've watched a few Tank duels happen this way, with both sides sitting out and just watching. XD)

If it's a Smart Tank (or one on the Advanced+ difficulty), I usually moltov it and run around trying to kill the Special Infected in the area, forgetting the Tank exists (until I get carless and it puts me off of a building, which is probably the funniest way to die).

baiting the tank sounds like the most fun to me, though i've yet to play L4D so i dunno. but from what i've seen of it i think i'd go for that!

Heave a Molotov if someone else hasn't already, and unload my primary weapon on it. The Hunting Rifle is surprisingly effective.

My response? Back up. Back the HELL away and keep backing up as fast as possible. The Tank can only move so fast and it tends to focus on whatever Survivor it comes into contact with first. In single-player, I generally do what I just mentioned, only I begin hurling everything I've got at it once it's fixating on one of the A.I. Survivors and I've backed up far enough away from it.

Well seeing as L4D2 is OUT- all us vets are going back to L4D to brush up. Thought this might be fun.

So what do you do?

Personally I either run at the tank screaming hysterically or RUN AWAY! - depends on my mood tbh...

-----------

So this is kinda search bar approved- but my forum-fu is weak; and I'm almost certain there must be an old thread like this- but I think it's time for a fresh view on the topic now that it's been out a while.

EDIT: Other option removed... tis boring
Ed:Ed: New option added which I forgot
You should add "Make a Septic Tank" on there.
I would but I don't know how to add more poll options... im out of lines!!!

I throw a molotov (does that actually make them faster?!?) Then I usually get torn to pieces depending on whether I'm playing online and at what difficulty. If I have AI on my team, I let them distract the Tank while I open fire. On Easy/Normal/Advanced I almost never get killed by the Tank.
It might be an urban gaming myth; but Ive always held that setting the tank on fire makes it just fast enough to be able to catch you- while not on fire its the same speed...
It's not a gaming myth, you can test it. Normally the Tank runs only slightly slower than Green-health survivors such that if you keep running in a straight line, he can't catch you but you'll be hard pressed to get a safe distance just running straight. On fire he runs slightly faster than green health survivors, and will catch you if you just run straight.

For me I stand still and shoot, unless it's coming right for me. Then I run away while shooting.

I saw one's arm sticking past a corner and thought it was a charger. I ran right up to it and then went "oh, shit! you're not who I thought you were.".
Edit: I usually go with adreneline and melee if I know it's coming. Which is 9 times out of ten pretty much.
