League of Legends is fun. Well, its fun as long as I'm not playing with a bunch of total a-holes, which is to say, very rarely, in my experience. So, If you play LoL, would you kindly prove me wrong? Or, alternatively, if true, tell me so I can find a better way to spend my time.

I can't really help you out there. I actually quit LoL for that exact reason. There's just far too many severe dickweeds.

I only know one person who plays... but going off of him I can assume most LoL players are egomaniacal.

The game League of Legends is just a game that isn't starter player friendly
and the so called "dick-weeds" are just people who either are in fact just dick-weeds or worked there ass off and want more and more challenges.

Though I do agree the player database almost 90% of the time sound like people who failed anger management class by punching everyone in the face and then laughing at them.
Could be friendlier

There are some decent people on LoL, it's just the dickheads are more vocal (for obvious reasons) than the non-dickheads.

I actually just started spewing dumb jokes and people seemed to be more talkative with me. Maybe it's just me.

You think League of Legends is bad? Really?

You obviously haven't seen Heroes of Newerth's player community yet have you? And for your sake, I hope you never do.

See, your problem is that you play League of Legends. There's big issue number one...the game claims to be team-play friendly, but when half the cast of heroes can qualify as a carry, it means there's no reason to play as a team. Everyone's busy thinking, "No matter how hard the other guys on my team screw up, we'll win as long as I get my items." Why play as a team when it's literally way more rewarding to just pick a carry and farm that shit up?

Now, if you played something a little nicer, like say Heroes of Newerth, where a team full of carries is a great way to lose in under 25 minutes, you'd have to have more teamwork. Problem is, people who play Heroes of Newerth are even LESS friendly, and playing it is a damn sight harder than League of Legends is. Also, you have to buy an account, so it's not free. So, well, guess you'll have to choose your battles.

I never liked this game, I wasn't a fan of DOTA because of this simple reason, I lost interest in it and I played LoL for 5 minutes, got a G word and an N word and I've uninstalled it right away... I never looked back.

First and foremost, there is one tool that will help with every jerk in the entire game.
/mute _____ Voilà! In one move you have silenced the bastards forever. Play the game with friends, it makes it sooooo much more fun. Cause yeah, a good portion of the people are loud, annoying, everyone-on-the-team-is-a-noob-but-me-and-that's-the-only-reason-I'm-dyeing jerk. However, it's free, so it's hard to cast stones against. Again, play it with your friends, I've had such a great time when I've got four other of my mates with me.

LoL is the same as HoN or DotA, containing the same near-zero learning curve with a similar/the same player base of people who have been playing these same repetitive memorization-based games for years. So yeah it's probably still people who need to learn concepts like "nobody is born knowing how to play this", "if you don't bring in new people, as the old ones get bored and leave you will stagnate and no more games like this will be made", or even... common courtesy *gasps*.

I tried to get into HoN when it first came out for beta, but all the DotA and LoL-ers came en masse and made it one of the most miserable gaming experiences of my life, second only to trying to learn DotA itself before HoN beta was available. And yes, I was playing them WITH MY FRIENDS (at the very least on my team)- and even though I don't play it now, I still listen to them talk for hours about what they did the night before and then have whining fits about how various other friends suck at the game (and when i am with the other friends it is vice versa).

Nobody seems to like anyone in those things, because everyone blames everyone else for everything.
