So I've been wanting to try God of War for a while but I only have a 360 and I'll be damned if I cave in to those smug PS3 fanboys so I ask you: What is the least Shitty GoW rip-off on 360?

If you actually come across a copy of X-blades, burn it. Since that probably won't be enough to kill it, mail it to the Vatican with instructions that it be purified.

Dante's Inferno has pretty good combat, but the puzzles to break it up are monotonous, if functional. Darksiders implements its puzzling elements better, and is on the whole the most diverse game, but has pretty bland combat. Neither have really good art direction.

You probably won't understand the plot of DMC 4 without having played the other games, and you won't understand the plot of Bayonetta without a frontal lobotomy. Disregarding that, they're both functional, if repetitive, hack and slash games with deep combat mechanics.

None of the above have very good stories or characterization in my opinion, though DMC 4 and Bayonetta are probably the best of the bunch.

Bayonetta is way out there and over-the top, but fun for exactly those reasons. Not a perfect game, and it's no God of War, really, but I enjoyed it tremendously. The combat, though quite complicated (in a good way), moved pretty smoothly. Moreso than I was expecting at least. Overall, fun, but bizarre doesn't even come close to describing it.(Guns. Built into your 10 inch high heels. Nuff said.)

Darksiders is probably my favorite of this lineup, simply because its gameplay was fairly diverse and it did a good job of giving me goals to work towards. Personally, I really loved the monster designs also, and the dungeon-diving feel to it was pretty well mapped and thought-out. It had the elements to make it a great adventure beat-em-up, but the only thing that cut it down for me was yeah, I have to agree with Hal10k: the combat mechanics were pretty bland. But, looking past that, it's worth the 15-17 bucks you'd spend on it.

P.S. Also doesn't hurt to have a 360 AND a PS3. I've gotta recommend that idea too.

Well, if you're looking for a combat focused action game you can go with either Ninja Gaiden 2 or Bayonetta. I believe the original Xbox NG game(s) are also fully 360 compatible. Every one of them is much better than GoW when it comes to having a deep and enjoyable combat engine.. but none are really GoW clones.

Darksiders is also not a GoW clone at all. It's really more of a Zelda clone, if anything. It's also pretty good and, once again, has a better combat engine than GoW.

Dante's Inferno is really the only game on your list I would consider a GoW clone at all. It is pretty good though it has some weird tonal inconsistencies that hurt the themes it's trying to bring forward.

Actually, that's pretty true. Ninja Gaiden is pretty awesome as well, though it's a lot more difficult than GoW.

Calling Ninja Gaiden hard is like saying Hitler was an unfriendly chap. Those games are fucking BRUTAL. And I love them for it. I must say though, I recently got Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 for my new PS3 and having played the 360 version I found the lack of gore very off putting and less satisfying to play.

Bayonetta, easily. So long as you aren't looking for a good story and don't have a problem with the silly sexiness.

Also, someone is probably going to throw a tantrum over you referring to Devil May Cry as a God of War rip-off.

Especially since it's factually incorrect, as the first DMC came out in 2001, the second in '03. I'm not much for either series but I dislike when people don't research things like that (took me all of 10 seconds to go look that up on wikipedia).

OT: Out of the group I prefer Darksiders, but I see it more akin to Legend of Zelda in terms of gameplay. Admittedly I haven't tried Bayonetta. >.>

Devil May Cry (series) pre-dates God of War by four years. Bayonetta is a DMC clone, having been developed by the same people.

Darksiders and X-Blades are truly terrible games, God of War can have them.

Never played Dante's Inferno so no comment.

Castlevania: Lords of Shadow, I can't decide which I like better this of GOW.

Its such a beautifull game, with an interesting storyline, fun bosses and it can be pretty challenging to boot!

This is my favourite Castlevania game (I'm a terrible person I know) Starfox Adventures is my favourite StarFox game (Terrible person again, I know).

Really?

Darksiders is more akin to Zelda than anything else. The dungeons are set up almost identically. The horse, everything...just...DOES NOBODY SEE THIS!?!?!?!??

Just because its a third person spectacle fighter (^^which darksiders isnt), doesn't mean they're all like God of War (except Dante's Inferno, thats the ONLY ONE in the entire list). Each one has their own unique style and feel.

If you played Bayonetta..or any of these games you would know that.

stop calling games rip offs. only because a game is the same genre doesn't make it a rip off. with saying that you are really devaluing some great games. so to rephrase your question: what is a good hack and slasher on the xbox 360?

bayonetta is great. dmc is also good i guess. dante's inferno is ok. darksiders is more a action adventure and x-blades sucks. another great one is castevania lords of shadow, but that is my opinion.

DMC4, Bayonetta and Darksiders get one out of those 3. I also feel the necessity to point out that the first Devil May Cry was out four years before God of War and the formula is still pretty much the same.

I also recommend Ninja Gaiden.

Edit: Ninja'd about DMC series coming first

I would go with Bayonetta. It's such an over the top but awesome type of game.

I'll admit, I laughed out loud when I saw that no one had voted for X-Blade (as of yet). It also restored some of my faith in humanity.

I wouldn't have said Bayonetta was a God of War rip-off by a long shot. It's... Well, I sort of find myself at a bit of a loss as to how exactly it can be described. I think "bloody mental" comes close. In a good way. I really like it, it doesn't take itself seriously at all, and it actually works better on the XBox than it does on the PS3.

Besides, what girl doesn't want guns built into her stilettos? I know I do. :)

Well, seeing as Dante's Inferno is probably the only game on the list that could actually be called a God of War rip-off/clone, I have to pick that. It might also be because I've only played that, DMC and Bayonetta, one which, as stated before, is of a series older than GoW and the other being a rip-off/clone/whatever-we-should-call-it on that series in turn.
