I prefer to keep the old characters, the new ones look too much like rednecks and look poorly developed.

Wow, up in arms already???
Just a point of reference, there are rednecks where I live up north.

It *would* be nice to have both... That way you don't get two 10 year old idiots arguing over who has to be Zoey. Course, that also takes away the whole thing of "ZOMG JUR A GRIL?!?" when I get annoyed and choose her so we can start the game.

I'm pretty sure Valve said that you could play as the original 4 survivors if you bought Left4Dead.
By that do they mean, you have to possess a copy of L4D, as in a save file, as you start L4D2, or do you literally need to purchase L4D and redeem some kind of coupon?
I don't even know if this is true. If it is, then I imagine you would just need the data of L4D on your computer/Xbox 360.
I would assume it would just make use of steam cloud, which L4D tried to champion (even though it sucks bawls).

I like the new characters, they fit the setting. I also like the setting, mostly because i'm from he south, so i'm glad there's finally a game set there.

I think it would be cool to have the original characters tie into the story though.

They look like they're supposed to look. The trailer was set in New Orleans. People always dress and look like they presented them in E3 in Louisiana.

Are you saying they look like rednecks just because they're from the south?
No, I don't think that there redneck by location.

Thank you for not bitting my head of just because of a simple statement I said.

Second, I did not know that the setting was in New Orleans or I wouldn't of made that statement.

I don't think they are really gunning for complete stereotypes in this one, I mean they did it fine in the first game, and they are still here somewhat in the second.

Also bear in mind the girl wants to be a news reporter, she isn't actually one. They don't actually need to be what they say, they way you are describing the stereotypes, if they were to match them it would make the game borderline wacky, and perhaps this isn't what they are gunning for this time around, I mean no one said stereotypes were absolutely necessary.

In this case I'm just comparing them visually. And the original 4 stand out more. Maybe on a character development the new 4 might stand out better.

But on a visual level the original 4 look more distinct and unique.

Good thing we know exactly how they will look, act, and their general portrayal of a certain "stereotype." Sarcasm aside, try to remember back when the first L4D was announced and look at how the characters changed. Anyway, why does it matter? If you guys are for that silly boycott you wont even be playing the game.

I like that they added new characters, but it would be cool if the old characters made some sort of cameo.

Just make them unlockables if you complete some arbitrary task, like completing all the campaigns.

If there are going to be unlockables, put in Simon Pegg.

I want the old ones, but since its takeing place in a new place then these characters fit the new enviorment.
besides there will probably be a mod that lets you play as them.
