Poll: Left 4 Dead 2 - The Passing First Impressions

For those on PC who got it for free? A bit of fun and a nice new area with a handful of weapons. The old survivors should have had a much larger role however, as none of them except Francis even said anything when I was playing.

I feel sorry for anyone who has the 360 version though, 560MS points for that? No thanks.

Also, a run and gun Crescendo, in water that halves your running speed? Fucking A Valve, I haven't even tried it on Expert but I know its gonna be improbable to do.

Agreed they could have at least shown an awesome cut-scene of bill heroically fighting a tank but instead we just find his corpse.

Also Boomer Bile+Pipe Bombs owns the sewer level XD. Already beat the passing on Expert was a little short IMO but fun none the less. Realism Verus mode is what I'm all about this week.

yep, but that M-16 he has does double damage. I lead the way to victory with my three retarded companions with the weapon of a fallen hero. I even took down a couple tanks with it.

OT: I liked it. it was fun, took about an hour, had plenty of variety, and the M-60 is the best weapon ever. you just point it at whatever you want destroyed and hold down the trigger. you will not be displeased.

Wait, the gun Bills corpse had wasn't an M16 (that's the 150 bullet clip new gun) are you sure it does double damage though?

pretty sure, I could be wrong and it just seemed like it, but it did a lot of damage. and the new gun is an M-60, not the M-16, they're both made from the same line though, hints the similarity in name.

Maybe, 'cause when I picked it up two zombie attacked me and I brought each one down with one bullet to the torso, but that could have been luck. It also only took about three clips to take down a tank, but once again, could have been luck as well.

There was a 9-Iron? According to the Left 4 Dead wiki, the only golf club they added is the Driver. I used it, and I noticed that it has the same animations and stats as a Katana, except it looks like a driver.

I found an MP5 in a game of Realism Versus, but that's apparently got nothing to do with The Passing. Apparently German gamers got a bunch of extra weapons, and the MP5 is one of them.


On a semi-related note, last night I got some friends together and played every Left 4 Dead 2 campaign, in order. We only had to restart once, and that was mostly because of teamkilling.

The campaign was solid, the new weapons were decent. I feel that the orginal survivors were a little underutilised, 2 conversations and they cover you during the finale. That's about it.

Mutation shows massive potential as a really fun gamemode but if you ask me I don't think they could've chosen a worse starting mutation. I fucking hate Realism Versus, all it does it make infected turns shorter and less fun and survivor turns more frustrating and less fun. Everyone loses.

Here's hoping Bleed Out will be better.

excuse me, where do u have the information about bill's m16 doing double damage?
because i used it quite alot during it, and felt it was poo, i was lucky to notice the table with the ak47's and stuff, the before mentioned m16 couldn't even kill a zombie with 1 hit in the stomic..

One: You might want to use spell check before someone reports you for it, we here at the escapist can get mighty elitist.

I thought it was pretty fun. Played through it 3 times: twice on a solo run and one on an online run with some friends in vent. All in all, it was a fun little campaign and it looks like Bill went out like a badass with the blood trail leading to his corpse.

On a sidenote, I think we can skip the spoiler tags, since I'm sure everybody knows by now Bill's dead.

Only thing I liked was the bride.

Should have had a hunter in tux, though.

But really? Meh. Serious major meh.

In around 12 months they made 5 fully functioning campaigns, new infected, new weapons.
In about 5 months they made a 3 part buggy-as-feck campaign in which there is an overpowered game breaking weapon (The M60... Kind of BFBC2esque habbit this thing is having lately) and a golf club.

So, yeah, unimpressed.

I suppose though Mutation is a big old laugh. Realism vs makes the Jockey a lot of fun until you get one shotted by the M60.

A hunter? Uh-uh... maybe a Smoker or, for pure comedic effect, a Boomer... not a Hunter though, unless he had a top hat on instead of the hood.

I know, the Tank is a pain in the ass. The traditional L4D formula is supposed to be no Tanks in Part 1 of a campaign, Valve!

Well, my first impressions are that my computer sucks and chose the worst possible time to prove that it can't run games very well. I suppose this is what I get for trying to run Windows in virtualization, but it Valve wold get their act together and release Steam on Mac, I wouldn't have to. As it stands now, I can't get more than a few seconds in due to severe slowdown which makes the game %100 unplayable. Well, I suppose Valve has about a week left before they miss their Mac release date deadline (then again, this wouldn't be the first time they've announced a delay at the last minute).
