I have L4D for the 360. I really don't use my computer for gaming, as I have too many games for it, and it crashed my other computer because of it. I'm sure both versions are fun, but I like the 360 version. I only play RTS games on the pc, should it not lag or crash.

I've only played the 360 version but I'm certain that there isn't much difference between the two besides the PC's social benefit of being smug about being a proud member of the master race of gaming.

I'm happy with the console version for the simple reason of being able to pop the disc in and play right away (I'm not very tech savvy you see).

You know Left 4 Dead is made by VALVe right? The company which supported Counter Strike, Team Fortress Classic, Day of Defeat etc for years with free updates and maps. They still do that with Left 4 Dead, all for free unlike on the 360 where they're forced to make it paid for.

Valve regard the PC as a superior console, as do I. I don't own it, but if I did it would certainly be on PC.

I personally own it on Steam. While I'm usually for all for an FPS being on console, the sheer amount of quick turns necessary in the game make me glad I got it for the PC.

But some of my more mainstream and less hard-core gamer friends got it for 360 and I almost wish I'd got it.

Hahaha I just quoted that to my friend yesterday too =)

Xbox 360 has a clear advantage over computer, you don't have to have steam
I'd consider that a serious disadvantage.
Why would steam be a dis-advadvantage? It's free and takes up virtually no Hard Drive space or virtual memory. Sure it's slightly bothersome if you don't have steam already, but it's really easy to get it.

I'm not being a fan-boy, I'm honestly curious. If anyone reads this and hates steam enough to not buy a game for PC because it requires it: why?

the 360 version may be one of the finest ports ever made.
Disagree. IMO the controls isn't pulled off that well. No, Im not saying that fps on a gamepad sux, I have no trouble aiming in halo and cod (actually I had a harder time finishing HL2 on hard on the pc than on the 360), but anyway I preferred the aiming on the pc version when it came to L4d.

I think the aiming for L4D on the 360 is a little stiff and slow, just like Team Fortress on the xbox too.

PC FTW!

I love the controls (espically being able to map buttons that are easier to reach for me!)
Not to mention everytime I play I am always playing with people that have mics.
Sure, you need a better computer, but you want that anyways, so it's not a big deal. XP

I have Left 4 Dead on PC, and I can't imagine it any other way. The mouse is essential for any shooter, and the fact that voice control is something you have to toggle means less of the sort of screaming twats you get on xbox live.

Do you consider 480,000 pixels to 173,2500 pixels a big difference or not?

Are seriously stating that the only difference between the Xbox version and the PC one is its community?

What about raw power?
What about choices on the controller to use?
What about mods?
What about updates?
What about more maps?
What about native resolution?
What about 16 AA?
What about 24 AF?
What about enhanced blooming?
What about the devs console?

And, the PC version doesn't even need a disc! Holy crap! This technology thing is something amazing!

You can have your fun with the Xbox version, but the PC one is technically the stronger of the two. There's nothing wrong with that, it's how things are meant to be.
I'm not even sure what half of that means (in other words, all your techno babble means very little to me) so, yes, the community is the only really significant difference.

I may not be a smart man but I know that it's easier to have fun if you keep things simple (after all, is having fun the point of playing games?).

Why does the Warcraft cover remind me of a crappy fighting game?

I don't have this yet, and what I get it for depends on whether the PS3 release comes before I get a MacBook Pro, but I'm leaning more towards the PC version, since I love modding games, it's the main reason why I bought UT3 for PS3

Friends met in TF2/GMOD
Updates
Better controls (better headshots/total shots ratio)
Steam support
That is all.

Really? The simple things are the best? That's a very closed minded observation to make.

By your logic then, the crappy versions of games are the best? I don't quite follow you. Half of that "techno babble" means that the graphics on the PC are light years ahead of the Xbox, hence, they're better.

And to be honest you're committing a heavy fallacy here [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Argument_from_ignorance]. You can't, or you shouldn't, strip away the strong points of something just because you have no idea what they mean.
I didn't actually say that simple things were the best (it appears that you misread my post), I merely said that it is easier to have fun when things are kept simple (a different statement altogether).

By your logic, the shiney and pretty versions of games are the best? Am I right in assuming that you are a style over content type of person? (a point that is agreed upon by many is that graphics are not the be-all-and-end-all of games)

As a general rule your arguements are only valid and relevent if they can be understood by all parties involved in the discussion. You should have kept your points simple if you wanted a worthwhile response (seeing as I previously mentioned that I am not technologically adept it is a failure on your part to acknowledge the practicality of your writing and language use).

Being an early console player and than switching to PC gaming later on, I'd say any FPS, not just Left 4 Dead is better on PC. It just feels like it's meant to be played on the PC. This is just my opinion, no need to flame.

PC version all the way, assuming you have a good enough PC to afford it.
Allow me, for a moment, to expand this into my general view of PC vs Console:

Generally, games on PC are better if you can afford an up-to-date gaming PC.

Also, I own L4D on PC, so there's a chance you'll play with me! Yay!
