Poll: left 4 dead, possibly the best game ever

I like my horror games actually scary, and while having a Smoker snatch you in the middle of a fire-fight is pretty shocking, it doesn't exactly leave me running for the bathroom and crying. Plus, when I first heard about the game, I was hoping it would be like a much better Resident Evil Outbreak or a video game Dawn of the Dead.

Alas, the perfect zombie game has yet to be made. Dead Rising was on the right track, but got lost around Pervert Junction and Comic-book Silliness Boulevard.

Did Valve ever say L4D was even supposed to be scary? Intense in places, yes. But scary? I think you looked at the wrong game

All right, I will admit it probably is the best MULTIPLAYER game that I've ever played ('course, I haven't many other multiplayer games besides Halo and Crysis), but it is hardly the "best game ever". There is no plot or character development for one thing. The co-op works well, but the friendly AI is so retarded that it might as well be a single-celled organism. And the free "Survival Pack" DLC was nice, but it doesn't really add all that much to the game. But the worst thing about this game is that it attracts more griefers than another multiplayer game that I've ever played or heard of. Fortunately, most of said griefers tend to hang out in versus mode (where they are SUPPOSED to be doing the griefing), but occasionally I'll still come across some pricks in co-op who refuse to help other people out no matter how many times you save their asses.

Pointless thre.... OK. Left 4 Dead is awesome. Best game of last year, in my opinion. But it is far from the best game ever. We haven't seen the best game ever yet. It'll be CoD 100: World War Three.

Ok, to be fair it isn't the best thread ever, and it could have done with some spelling and grammar checks, but it does have a point; that being the discussion of Left 4 Dead being the best game ever. He doesn't have much basis in saying that, and he doesn't really provide any evidence for the case, but the point is that he's just posting his opinion which has created some discussion.

Besides, you should be grateful that it's not a versus thread.

I am gonna make a VERY bold statement. I don't like valve games.

Neither do I, Half Life the PC's version of Halo. Hear me out, it's a slightly better than average shooter that has hoards of fanboys/girls, sounds a lot like Halo now doesn't it.

L4D is a great game, but its lack of levels and online-heavy gameplay knock it square away from the "Best Game Evarr" Trophy.

Yeah not to mention it gets a bit repetetive after like 2 weeks.

The game can be very polarizing. For me, the "us against the world" mentality of the game's campaign and new survival mode is very appealing and tons of fun. Conversely, my cousin, who is more into standard FPS multiplayer fare like CoD and Halo 3, thought the game was shit. As a result, I pop in L4D at least once a week while my copy of CoD:WaW sits idly in it's case. It appeals mainly to a niche market, but it does so VERY well.
