Wow has anyone here actually used Salvia? If so how can you feign shock and surprise at it getting banned? It is severaly mind altering and having something like that would be ridiculas if the general public had free unrestricted access to it. Now im not anti-drug in the least and believe that alcohol has effects much worse than weed. but come on Salvia is mind-bendingly insane.
People have had unrestricted access to Salvia for years now, has it really been that ridiculous?
You're right and I think that's due to the fact that many people don't know about salvia but i still stand by the fact that people shouldn't be shocked by the fact that a substance like that would be banned.

Probably as much to do with the fact that it's no fun whatsoever, and it makes your bong taste like ass. I see no reason why it should be banned to be honest, sure it's potent, but it lasts ~15 minutes tops when smoked (the usual method, few people quid, and those who do will generally be experienced users) and it has no addictive qualities whatsoever. Why should it be banned solely because it sends you to space for a few minutes?

Why would Salvia be banned?
Because it is fucking intense, much more so than a lot of illegal drugs.

Just because it's legal doesn't mean it is safe, it just means the people who give a crap about banning things haven't caught on to it yet, banning things takes time.

Look at Mephedrone which was very recently banned in the UK, that was basically MDMA, but legal. It had all the same effects and it was very difficult to tell them apart, apart from taste.

That said I don't think it should be banned, or any recreational drug for that matter.

Dude, K2 used a RESEARCH CHEMICAL from the JWH family as it's active ingredient. No one fucking knows what long term health affects it could have had. I used to use it too, a lot. It was much more intense than weed in my opinion, but it also made me incredibly depressed during the perdiods of time that I was not using it. When I finally stopped using, my overall happiness went way up. It's for the best that it's getting banned.

As for the drunk driving thing, do you think the number of deaths caused by drunk driving would drop if drinking laws would become a lot stricter? of course. Drug driving (or what ever they call it) isn't heard about as much as the drunk driving, cause they [drugs] are illegal, therefore are used less, and then even less drive while stoned, if it were legal like alcohol I'm sure you would hear just as many reports of stoned teenagers dieing cause their driver was stoned as do the drunk driving stories.
Sorry but I have to disagree with you there, When you're stoned, you realise that you are unable to drive (and you mostly really couldnt be bothered) but when your drunk, you're unable to make good decisions and driving drunk will seem like the best idea in the world.
Thats just my experience on the matter anyway. Make what you will of it.

OT: Banning theses substances is like pushing your problems to the side, out of the way, ignoreing them. After making something illegal theres nothing else you can do about it really. Instead governments should tackle these things head on, make people more aware of the dangers and such. If people like something enough, they will still try to get it even if its illegal. I personally know a lot of people who still try very hard to get their hands on mephadrone even now that it is illegal. I don't really know what governments should do, but I feel this is the wrong action, especially with regard to these 'Weed-alternatives'. Most of the time these are much worse than any kind of weed you'll get from even the dodgiest drug dealers. Making weed legal, taxed, quality controlled and all that would be a better solution. That way people could get good healthy as possible weed legally instead of the crappy stuff sold in head shops. The same does not go for the cocaine substitutes though.
And there are a load of other things on the market that people should be more aware of. Most people thing anything green and smokable is a weed0-sub, but that is not the case. Some things like 'Redeye' are very different and people should be told this in the shops intead of being told that its herbal incense.

Poland lifted the drug ban and look at them! Their saving so much money and time! I just wish people could see both sides of the argument and then make a decision.

Why not go all the way and ban beer too?
They did. It lead to a widespread increase of violence, drinking, and organized crime.
That's my point in a weird way. Stoners are not any kind of threat whatsoever. They let the government shit on them throughout their lives and they don't do anything.

Why not give those poor bastards what they want?

If this K2 stuff had such bad side effects then why haven't I experienced them? Hell if it's so bad for your health why not legalize the real stuff, tax it, and kiss America's defective goodbye?

And for those who've asked why I don't smoke real weed. I used to big a huge pothead, but then I had to make a choice. Earn money to support myself as well as my addiction to video games and comics or keep smoking weed and be broke. I chose Batman and food over weed.

If I had a desk job I wouldn't care, but I work with heavy machinery and equipment on a regular basis. If I accidentally wreck the forklift, cut my finger off on the huge saw, or even fall off a ladder then I would be screwed.

That's why I liked this fake stuff so much. Yeah it was expensive. But I didn't have to worry about loosing my job or getting arrested so it was well worth the price for those perks.
