You shouldn't have called those games realistic as they are not realistic and not even in setting. Modern would have been better. Russian invades every city in Europe at once and Unspecifiedestan are not realistic setting but you might call them modern given the stuff like the Invasion of Iraq. Although Russian as a villain is hardly a new thing nor that realistic.

OT: Since you are going realistic as a modern setting I would have to say Sci-fi to be perfectly honest.

In FPS anyway I don't really know. I mean a mix of both is what I would prefer but I guess that sounds crazy. Sorta like how RAGE and Fallout are sort of realistic in some ways but in a form of Sci-Fi setting...that said I'm excited for Prey 2 and the Metroid Prime series are my favourite FPS games ever

In TPS I prefer Sci-fi full on, can't stand the realistic third person shooters and much prefer an interesting and vibrant world to look at

With "realistic shooter" I guess you mean CoD/Battlefield-style games aka not-very-realistic-at-all-but-they-involve-american-soldiers-and-terrorists-fuck-yeah-shooters? Because a realistic shooter would be something like Operation Flashpoint or early Rainbow Six-games.

Anyways. The non-realistic ones are more fun. I don't say "sci-fi" because they can be steampunk or medieval for all I care, although favorites like Unreal, Tribes and Serious Sam are most definitely sci-fi. They're faster and require more skill than the "realistic" ones, who again are faster than the actually realistic ones.

Okay, preparing myself for this but...

I really wish EA would redo BF2142 in Frostbite 2. Please? I'll give them money.

I prefer both. Sure I've not really played Halo in quite some time, but I still loved it and I enjoy games like CoD.

I like good shooters.

Doesn't matter what I'm shooting and in which location in the Omniverse I'm shooting them.
We need to settle this dammit! *thumps table*

OT: I'm with Daystar, I just like good shooters. Doesn't matter what they are. Also COD is realistic? LOL
CoD is super realistic.

Doesn't matter how far away someone is, bullets will always hit what you're aiming at with no deviation whatsoever.

Just like real life.
Oh right yeah I forgot. And I forgot that you can heal bullet wounds by hiding behind a table. It's a wonder anyone dies from bullet wounds.
People who die from being shot are just noobs who can't dive behind a wall quick enough.

Real pros jump off of ledges, do a 360 turn and no scope dudes using aim assist.

Just like in real life.
And the magical knife that can instantly kill someone by stabbing their small toe.
Standard issue in any army.

What if you just don't like shooters period? I tend to think Mass Effect is more interesting to watch but I gotta admit listening to my ex get the squeakers all riled up in COD was always hilarious.

Neither Modern warfare or battlefield are particularly realistic, cant speak too much for battlefield having not played it but all of the MW's are arcade shooters at best. If you meant set in present day then fair enough but they are by no means realistic shooters. I enjoy both, though lately I've enjoyed SciFi more like Vanquished (awasome game) for example. The best "realistic" shooter I've played is Flashpoint, the original or dragon rising. Where one bullet can kill or injure you to a state which the mission is uncompletable and where firing from the hip without cover will get you killed almost instantly.
