I am a PC gamer when I play for myself to have fun. My son has a Xbox that I will play games with him like Lego Batman, Indiana Jones or Lord of the Rings. But I have never bought a game on Xbox for myself. I just prefer the keyboard and mouse controls to a controller. Plus I have a dual 27inch monitor setup on my PC with a full surround sound system. If I really want to play on a huge screen I can run a HDMI cable to my flat screen. Getting the HD tv away from my son or wife is a struggle so I would have to game almost exclusively when they are either not home or asleep. Its easier on PC for me and I can switch between things easily if I need to IM someone or check up on something while I am gaming.

I don't dislike console gamers but I do get tired of seeing the whole PC vs Console battles.

I prefer the platform that has the game I want. Or PC for any game where I have to shoot something because fuck analogue stick and aiming. Doesn't feel right. I own all 3 consoles right now, a 3DS an iPad (it was free) and a Wii U. I suppose I might get a PS4 with time, probably not an Xbox One, but stranger things have happened.

I like to be able to play the games I find interesting.

There were two reasons why I used to be so PC. I pirated everything, and there were a lot of exclusives. (VTMB)
I fully prefer a controller to M&K and I don't own a PC that can run any new games anymore. Plus I was actually able to afford a PS3 last year, so now I don't have to steal everything.

I own pretty much everything, right now I play anything I can on the PC because it is just flat out better than the consoles. But not playing Fire Emblem and The Last of Us? Preposterous.

1. plug a controller in
2. upgrade pc components for cheaper than the price of a new ps3
3. steam/gog sales, get the great titles for $5 or less legit, don't need to steal anything
4. ???
5. profit

Fire Emblem was surprisingly good given how godawful that series has been in the past, I definitely enjoyed that until lunatic+. Not a fan of gameplay entirely revolving around praying to the RNG gods that the enemies don't crit more than you do, or just grinding for 40 hours on zombie DLC maps. Yawn. Can't wait for pokemans next month, 3ds is finally getting a sizable library.

Pretty much all console. I'd like to go PC, but for running most modern games, they're simply more trouble than they're worth. Indies and casual games are the obvious exceptions, which is why I generally play them on PC.

The problem with just plugging a gamepad into a PC is that on PC games they lack the auto-aim that makes gamepads usable on consoles, giving you a distinct disadvantage, which is annoying on singleplayer games and unacceptable on multiplayer games. It is a simple fact that in order to be efficient, due to the nature and size of analog sticks they need auto-aim support; just the right amount makes them perfect counter-points to the kb+mouse setup.

I much prefer playing with gamepads when I can, and on singleplayer games do, as I find it much more fun. In all, I am probably split pretty evenly between PC and console -- if I go out of my way to get a game when it comes out, it will be for my 360, however I always have stuff I picked up in steam sales to play on PC

Both. I currently have a laptop, a desktop, Sega Megadrive, Nintendo 64, Gamecube, Xbox, PS2, Xbox 360, DS, PSP and a Game Gear. I play most new games I eventually get hold of on console, the pc gaming for me is pretty much reserved for classic exclusives, Indies and any form of strategy game except Fire Emblem and KUF: Heroes.

Why is it about categorizing yourself all the time? Who cares.

What do you play games on? Whatever is the most fun.
I chose PC, why? I need a beefy machine for work and my art hobby and the games just happen to look better and be cheaper. Does that mean I'll blow off a game on PS3 or whatever? Considering I bought the Last of Us just last week, and a 3DS XL recently ...no. Do I avoid console games? If they're on PC I'll get it on that just because of the previous statement. The only console I avoid are microsoft ones as 11 dead xboxes (yay warranties?) later and I'm not interested in going through that hassle again.

Do I worry about why someone likes a console over a PC? A bit but I'm not going to give them a lecture on why I like PCs better because when it comes down to it, maybe they just like having little to do beyond sticking a disc in and plopping their ass on the couch, makes ya happy? Awesome! Keep playing and enjoy!

Screw the picking a category to fit into, play what's fun, you don't need to defend a platform because it benefits no one, you're defending a pile of circuits. If someone wants to get into gaming and doesn't know where to start? Tell them what you know and the positives and negatives of each. Yes, your favorite platform has negatives, as does everything on earth (because electrons <=comedy)

Before the XL I hated the 3DS because the 3D hurt my eyes instantly and I didn't like any of the titles out for it, when asked by many friends "which should I get" my response is always the same:

Look up games on both devices, tally the ones you like and whichever has the most wins, give a double tally to games that you want to play with someone or maybe that 1 game you REALLY want to play. Which has the most? Kay, get that one.

I have a PC and nothing else. I enjoy a lot of games exclusive to PC, all my friends are on PC and I am comfortable and at home with a PC. Make sense for me to just stick with it!

Grew up on consoles, still play majorly on consoles.

But after trading up from a Mac to a Windows, I've gotten some actual use out of Steam too. I don't know if my habits will change when I get a better-for-gaming PC, but either way I'll be playing with a controller.

I don't know if I'd even call myself a gamer anymore. Of the last two years I've only played maybe three games (and only completed one). TBH, I want to have a go at GTAV, SRIV, and the KH HD remake but besides them, there's nothing I really want to play anymore although I like keeping up with reviews and news from the industry.

Anyway, I clicked "constantly console" on the poll. I don't think I've ever owned a gaming capable PC, even though I would have liked to many times when I was younger (but it would've been too expensive).

I identify myself as a console gamer. It's what I grew up on and feel the most comfortable using for video games. I briefly tried to get into PC gaming but found it too frustrating, and that's saying something because PC gaming right now is the easiest it's ever been to get into.
I'm primarily a Sony and Nintendo guy when it comes to gaming.. Not a huge fan of Microsoft in general and I've had almost nothing but bad experiences with the Xbox brand.
Windows as well if I'm being completely honest.

The Escapist forums have been populated mostly by PC gamers for longer than Zero Punctuation's been on. This poll has come up many times before.
At the same time the reviews and other site contributions have had a primary focus on consoles. Either console gamers don't generally have as much desire to waste their time on the message boards as the PC crowd, or the main site could actually be a worse waste of time and effort than our own ramblings.

I mostly use my Xbox 360 (or occasionally my PS2), though I own a PC which I occasionally play on a few games with. So I identify as a Console gamer who owns a PC too.

PC the vast majority of the time, I own a Wii and an Ouya and play them occasionally(I also own a few of the older consoles( PS1/2, 64, gamecube) but don't play them anymore(I run my older games in emulators on my PC/Ouya if I feel the itch); Nested parentheses: DOOM!).

I'd identify myself as a PC gamer, it's my preferred platform by a long shot.

Handhelds, more and more.

I play the big AAA-titles on consoles, but indies and older titles on PC.

I don't have any interest in any 'wars'.

Most of my favorite games of all time are PC-only (The Secret World, Natural Selection 2, Civilization series, Dawn of War, etc etc) so up until now I haven't had much interest in consoles.

I did own an N64 and 8-bit Nintendo when they were new but that was a long time ago.

I did vote 'PC only', but I do intend to find a dirt cheap PS3 used to play all the saved up exclusives so far. And I'll probably do the same 6 years from now at the end of the coming console generation. I'm not in a rush like most people seem to be.
