Ah, yes, Assassin's Creed. A cash cow Ubisoft milked to a near death state and, in an act completely out of character, gave the Cow's teats a break. As such, there wont be a main title Assassin's Creed game this year. As such, I wanted to ask, what's your favorite Assassin's Creed game? The Poll space is rather limited, so I'm only including the main title games that feature Assassins, so Shay, Shao Jun, Arbaaz Mir, Nikolai Orelov, Adewale, and Aveline don't get to take part.

I'd also like to know if you're even into Assassin's Creed anymore, or have never liked the series.
Your thoughts on Syndicate and it's two Assassins, Jacob and Evie Frye.
Who you're favorite Assassin is. (Expecting a certain assassin from Florence to be the most popular)
And finally, what you want to see in the next Assassin's Creed game.

Edit: The Enter key is my enemy.

I used to think the second one was a big improvement. Now I think they're all as mediocre as games get. It's so hard to enjoy them when the controls are crap and I'm constantly being interrupted by bad cutscenes, tutorials, forced walking and menus. The mission structure isn't engaging and the story was never respectable.
I personally liked, and still like, the first game. It's the one game that made me feel the most like what I assumed an assassin was. A stoic, silent individual that takes out targets, preferably without questioning orders. Every game since has strayed from my ideal Assassin, and since then our protagonists have been gangsters, real-estate agents, and pirates more than they've been Assassins.

I do understand what you mean though. II and Brotherhood were definitely improvements upon the first game, no doubt, but they really weren't all that great. I tried playing II again and couldn't do it. The combat was a lot more annoying than I remember it being.

2. I consider it a virtually perfect game. I played 1 when it came out, and it was alright, but then I got 2 and absolutely loved it, which made me appreciate 1 more.

2 is why I am so upset that AC decided to give up on being good because, LITERALLY BECAUSE they didn't want to figure out how to incorporate modern guns into the gameplay. So they just killed off Desmond and any interest in the game I had.

I keep considering getting the new ACs when they come out, especially since Syndicate was apparently good...but then I have to get re-acquainted with the now terrible story...and I just don't want to.

Black Flag is my favorite. It was also the least like the others. I think there is a connection there.

I guess the first was also good as well. That's the only way I can describe a game that is 4/5 above average and 1/5 pure shit.

Since you asked even those who never played AC, I'll say that I played the first, didn't like it, traded it in in the knowledge that it would never get a sequel, then...well, you know what happened. Also read a large number of novelizations by Oliver Bowden, but I find them usually sub-par, as they can't really stand alone without knowledge of the games.

Problem with AC is that there's just so many games, and from what I hear, the story's spinning in circles right now. Too many games to get into, wary of investment.

Agreed with all points, but as eye candy I still have fond memories of II, as well as sounds given I played it in Italian with subs.

Still never played the first one, and I'd kinda like to just for the setting - which is really the only element of the series which distinguishes it at all.

I'm with you there, the first one is my favorite, it owned it's title in that one. It's hard not to just parrot what you already said, but I find Altair to be the best assassin than any of the others. He didn't have the vast array of tools and abilities the latest assassins do but he stuck strongly to the code of honor set forth when you joined the order, the creed and it's tenants ran through his blood; like I said, the title of "Assassin's Creed" was the strongest in the first. And I get that most people don't like them but I loved[/i] the long Final Words cutscenes.

Anyway.

Not that I dislike the later ones but some are definitely better to me than others. I think II and Brotherhood are awesome, Revelations was cool for me because we got to see more Altair, and III was cool for me but spread too thin for my taste.
After those, they kinda start a downward trend and I definitely don't follow the plot of either the present or past storylines in the current ones. Black Flag was awesome but more a pirate game than assassin game (they really should probably switch gears at this point, you know?), I hated Unity's combat and complete re-workings of the mechanics after getting too used to all the games before it and that really soured my experience.
Syndicate actually started off really awesome for me actually. They brought back the standing-up Final Words for assassinations and you wiped their blood on a handkerchief, I thought that was an awesome throwback. And the combat works pretty darn well, at least better than Unity so Syndicate started off really strong for me but I still haven't found the drive to finish it, maybe after the next one is announced.

I don't know, I don't love the franchise anymore but I'm probably always going to buy the main console releases, I'm just in too deep at this point.

I used to be really into AC. I got the special editions (with the statues) from AC2-AC3, I kept up with the hype and watched every trailer and developer diary on YouTube, I played the games to 100% completion even getting all the chests and feathers. But around AC4 release, I just got the normal edition, the shitty ending of 3 killed any interested I had in the modern day story and the natural fatigue of the release schedule made me lose interest, but I still really liked it.

I got Rogue instead of Unity when it came out, and I enjoyed that alot, mostly for the new spin on its story and more ship gameplay. When I eventually got around to playing Unity and Syndicate, I couldn't even bring myself to get past the 50% story mark. The gameplay was so boring and mediocre compared to other games that did stealth and movement better, the missions were so cookie cutter and time wasting, the story fell back to the boring Assassin Good, Templar Bad Template (at least for syndicate). I'm honestly not sure if AC2 which I loved so much was as even that good, or was just as boring as Unity and I was blinded by the novelty and nostalgia.

As for my favorite, I'd say Black Flag was the peak of the series in terms of gameplay, the ship gameplay was great and you could still do some traditional assassins creed sneaking on land and plantations, its story was weak though. For story as AC2 had the strongest narrative, and its gameplay was fresh and novel for the time.

I don't really care about AC anymore, I'll keep an eye on what the next game is and if it looks interesting I might get it, but if it looks like Syndicate I'm going to give at a miss.

2 is my favourite Assassin's Creed game, but I actually enjoyed Black Flag the most. However, the reason I liked it the most was entirely because I ignored the AC aspects and basically played it as the pirate game I'd always wanted. Taking on various ships to steal their cargo never really got old for me. Boarding an enemy ship was always exciting.

2 is my favourite. Lots of memories with that game, and a genuinely enjoyable story. Followed by Black Flag, because pirates duh.

I've only properly played two assassins creed games (2 and Black Flag) and between them I guess I'd pick 2 just because it did the actual assassination part of the game better. Black Flag's sailing and ship battles were amazing at first but became repetitive since nothing about these features really changed as the game progressed.

Favourite is between II and Black Flag - II was just such a vast improvement over the first game that it's hard not to enjoy it I thought, though it doesn't hold up quite so well now and Black Flag's sailing and seamless open world and general pirate-based gameplay was one of the highlights of the series but the story and characters were paper-thin.

Best Assassin is definitely Ezio but he does have 3 games and a short film to help his character development. He still makes a nice change from the dour stoics in other games.

I still maintain that III is massively underrated by most as well. It's not great but I still think it's nowhere near as bad as many made it out to be when it released.

Couldn't tell you what I want from the next game in the franchise. I haven't played Unity or Syndicate yet so I don't know much about how it's changed.

Played AC1 for a bit, got bored with it and traded it in. Heard AC2 was a big improvement, but eventually I lost interest in it too, traded it in and decided the series wasn't for me.

Got Black Flag on the recommendation from a friend that it's quite different from the rest of the series and it is, so long as you are doing piratey stuff. As soon as the game makes you do the usual AssCreed stuff is when it loses me.

I would have to say Black Flag as it is the only Ass Creed game I have actually finished. I think mainly because it had the whole pirate thing going on and sailing around doing piratey stuff was more fun than the actual Ass Creed game itself.

The story was arse, I completed the game and never actually realized that the game was heading that way. But Conway was a decent main character and the gameplay was fine. The only others are 2 which I got bored of and Brotherhood which I played a bit of and got bored of even quicker. I might borrow Syndicate off of my friend as its set in London, but I'm not too bothered to be fair.

I liked the first the best, because it was the first one I played, and I played the crap out of it. The new tech was awesome, you can climb everything! Woah, I can see the whole city from up here! Get assassinated bud, oh shit, let's get the fuck out!

Played 2 a few years after, and it was pretty much the exact same game. The exact same game I had played the crap out of. So yeah, the formula just didn't interest me anymore.

Played the start of Black Flag. It was the same as well.
