As much as I hate the series, I had the most fun playing Halo 3 with friends. That fun quickly diminished when the typical online Halo community got involved, but it was still enjoyable while it lasted.

I've played them all only because I have access to all of them because my roomate loves Halo and its a good way to kill an afternoon together. That being said I can see why a lot of people say its overrated, in my opinion it is, but their still fun to play. So my favorite so far would have to be Halo:ODST. I loved the noir type setting, its only problem was it was way too short.

I can't count the number of times I've played through the Halo:CE campaign. A dozen? Two dozen? Hell I mighta played it through to completion fifty times and never once considered not coming back. Probably my favorite game of all time.

I've sunk more time into Halo 2's multiplayer than all my other online games combined. Easily.

Halo 3 was meh in both departments and ODST was a major letdown. Here's hoping Bungie delivers on that "returning to the roots" promise.

Halo was basically my first FPS that I really played much, but the series just got old. I'm more of a 'single-player' type of gamer, I don't play multiplayer often and when I do it's sure as shit not on LIVE.

I haven't played much of anything past Halo 2 on account from me not having a 360, but I have played a little bit of multiplayer on my friends console. It seems exactly the freakin' same as the first two games. On top of that, he says single player can be beat in just a few hours. And then I've heard so much about ODST also being the exact same thing. It looks to me like it got real stale real fast.

Halo CE was the game that convinced me to buy an Xbox and was the one I enjoyed the most. I suspect if I had any interest in the non-cooperative multiplayer elments I'd prefer Halo 2 or 3, but I simply do not. The few hours I've given to Halo 3 online were enough to convince me it was not worth my time, an opinion forged almost entirely by the "people" who infest the servers.

Having played Halo 1-3, I have to say that they are all crap, in my opinion. They add nothing to the genre (other than that they DID make an FPS playable on a console, which is something, though I still prefer PCs).

My problem with Halo is my problem with Half-Life. They are old, bland, and generic FPS games.

Half-Life was a 1999 game that has remained a 1999 game in style through episode 2.

Halo is a 1995, Doom-style, FPS with very little else to commend it. Oh, and it has horrific vehicle sections with goddawful controls.

No, overall FPS's haven't evolved much, but some have tried more than others, which is why I dislike the genre, but do enjoy some games that stand out for me: COD4 (not MW2); FEAR 1; Portal and TF2 and L4D1/2

If I had to pick one, I would probably say Halo 2.

I played that game while it was still freshly out, and so my innocent mind has recorded it as a fun experience.

All the other Halo games I have played in my now more cynical years, and I loathe them. I will never play Halo 2 again out of fear that it will become soiled by my evil cynicism.

Voted for Halo: CE because the thread asked which my favorite Halo is, not which is the best game. It is my fave because at the time it was a bit fresh and interesting. Things like red vs blue helped as well.
