Wait, what about all our other senses?
Like sense of pain, sense of balance, sense of extraneous limb position (the ability to eat with your eyes closed), sense of direction, sense of humour, fashion sense?
I'm willing to give up my fashion sense?

all senses are linked, losing any one would affect the others in some way (think daredevil . . .) and it has been discovered that there are quite a few other senses apart from the five we learn about in school, Thermoception, Balance and acceleration, Proprioception and Nociception are some I've just read up on on wikipedia.

If I could do without any of the main five senses, it would probably have to be smell, but if I had a choice of any of them I wouldn't mind losing my sense of pain (nociception). dangerous to not know if I'm injured or not, but I can always shout 'I feel nothing . . . NOTHING!' when I'm feeling down.

Touch. Doesn't really effect me that much. Would that also mean I would feel no pain?
yes which would also prevent you from knowing when you are injured which could cause serious problems for instance if i burned you without you knowing you wouldn't ever know until you looked at the burn, plus it would be the equivalent of having no nerve endings anywhere and I mean anywhere.

Yea, you could also break bones and cut yourself without feeling it. Meaning you would be a walking limb.

Taste. I could eat all kinds of healthy stuff. And losing the sense of taste is easy. You just chop your tongue off.

Probably smell. I have little of it anyways because of my allergies.

Thank god for singular!

Taste. I really could afford to cut the many fatty foods I eat and simply eat a crapload of salad.

Or touch, because that would be an interesting ethereal experience.

Oh goodness, DEFINITELY taste.

True, I'll give up the joy of most foods, but then I wouldn't have to fear for ingredients blending poorly. I could eat any food I wanted without fear of disgust!

Wouldn't losing touch make you immune to pain?

Therefore, I choose touch.
I agree with him. Being immune to pain would make me unstopable! Now to pick a fight with Chuck Norris, and win!
Bah!
All of you who choose touch also lose the........ pleasures of life!
Is that REALLY worth the lack of pain?
REALLY?!

Smell- though wouldn't that dim your taste anyway? ...Oh well, I wont pick with the odd magic of thread polls.

I would lose touch.

I see most people chose smell, why is htat a bad idea?
Most of your sense of taste is based on smell, your tongue only senses the four basic tastes; sour, sweet, salty, and bitter.

So choosing smell is pretty much losing 2 senses...

If I lost my:

Taste: Couldn't taste my favourite food.
Smell: Couldn't smell pretty smells.
Sight: Couldn't sew which is my job and hobby or see a show.
Hearing: Couldn't listen to music.
Touch: Would make most of life dull and harder.

Oh God this question is nasty. I'm going to go with smell because at least I could work at a poo factory if I really wanted to.
