It's about time I did a thread on this. Lucid Dreaming [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lucid_dreaming] is the ability to know that you are dreaming, when you are dreaming. Like being in waking life, but as your dream self. I have had a few lucid dreams, most of which I haven't been 100% aware that I was able to do everything, but I did know I was dreaming. The possibilities with the technique the infinite once you perfect it. Heres a video that explains it somewhat.

The video has embedding disabled, just watch it on youtube.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wYTgTxSoITY

Lucid dreams are unique, there is nothing quite like it. Although they may not be tangible at first, the more you practice doing it - The better they get. They can provide insight and help you to understand yourself better.

So my question is - Have you ever had a lucid dream?

[small]If you are interested in learning about it go here [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e3GJTkG60X4]. Only watch his videos on lucid dreaming, the rest are terrible. [/small]

I'm terribly sorry but it's been done before and I still haven't experienced it. Sounds pretty weird though, if I hadn't heard of it and it happened I'd think I'd been drugged.

I don't see how you train yourself to dream though...

Ah man of all the days. I checked it yesterday and it wasn't done. I'm kinda pissed now.

I have a few times. I usually somehow both being the person in my dream and observing the person in my dream when I have Lucid dreams.

It's all very confusing.

Yeah I made myself have superpowers like telekinesis. I broke a window and formed a hoverboard(?) out of the pieces. Also I could control fire but that wasn't working that well. Sometimes I make things replay in my dreams. I think that's what you're talking about? Control? It's fun.

I could do it for a week straight after watching Waking Life, but then it wasn't fresh in my mind any more and I just lost it.

Might watch it again soon and see if it works.

Ah, well you checked. That's what counts.

I do remember once, I knew that I was in a dream... but I couldn't do anything about it.

I've had lucid moments in dreams.
The most defined was just after I died in one dream. I was stabbed through the back and out through the front by a large spike thing. Just below the last rib. Switch to third person. Oh crap, I'm dead. I'm dead? Wait. Where am I? The area around me turns solid white. Oh, I must be dreaming. Hmmm... Well I guess I'm not dead then. My dream continued with the dream me waking back up with a large black scar thing over where I was stabbed. I didn't even know I was dreaming again until I woke up. Funny thing is, whenever I see myself in a dream anymore, I still have the scar.

I had a massive interest in the whole concept of lucid dreaming a while back, I ended up having one lucid dream, which was great, but I've since given up on it and scrapped my dream journal. I also don't sleep half as much anymore, and chronic sleep deprivation seems to have ruined my memory and dream recall. =/
You can always regain your ability. You just need to tell yourself to remember your dreams before you go to sleep. Just repeat it like a mantra in your head. Works for me.

I've had a few, but for the most part they're spread out. Or I don't remember them. Possibly the latter.

I'm very interesting in the topic however, and I've been trying to do it consciously. Sadly, the way I sleep, whenever I use the trick to go directly from consciousness to lucid dreaming, the usual paralysis occurs. Unfortunately, I shock myself back when that happens because I sleep with half my face down, making it VERY hard to breath.

Too bad so far, but hopefully eventually I'll be able to do it nicely.
