Macs are too expensive and you dont get as much for your money (in terms of hardware and right clicks).
Do you really think Macs are still single-mouse button? o_0

I admit the Mighty Mouse is a bit goofy in that it's sensitive to which side of the button you click on to determine right/left clicking and therefore cannot click BOTH at the same time. But stick in a logitech mouse and bingo! Full two-button action.

MADDOX wins you the Thread.

And yes, Macs are for people who don't game.
All the games I play off my PS3 work on the Mac. Blizzard stuff, Civ IV, and EVE.

Im a PC and Im 19 years old

plus, I like video games and a Mac that plays video games is like shoving blue ray disks into an Atari

its not gonna happen
I am so confused by your post! Lol. I love my macbook, and it plays all the PC games i really care about tbh. Not a huge amount, but its not like the games i play on it are limited hideously which is what your post implies! I play WoW, COD4, NFS on my Macbook and they all run really well; WoW on a mac is actually better than on a PC, and I am sure its the same for a number of other games on my Macbook.
dont be confused about it, when i walked into the mac store I asked to see one that could play COD4 and they guy looked at me as if I was crazy then he told me I should get a PC if i wanted the best experience, Im sure your mac will play it but its $1,500+

besides Im not going to shell out that kind of money for something I can build myself, and then I built a computer with random directions off the internet and its all good, I built it for $900 off of new egg and tiger direct

by the way lets say something breaks on your Mac how much does it cost to fix it? it is all solid state right?

I've been a PC user my whole life and that's just what I've always used. No real big reason.

Although my boyfriend recently went to Mac so I guess it's a way for me to research it without spending the money. So we'll see!

I game.
As do I.
You know, some gamers have a profession that requires a Mac. That doesn't stop them from having a PC, or even stops them from being gamers. That's ridiculous.

Nerd-sourcing: is there anything it can't do?

Once I get some money I'd like to hack together a HTPC.

I should have applied for a federal stimulus money claiming it would help with contraception if I could just jack off all the time and not have sex with women

Macs have their uses, but too many Apple products seem to be built for show. Also, another problem with Macs is that if they ever become a major segment of the market, they'll have to do a good deal of catching up in terms of virus protection... They just don't have as much experience at it (although in fairness, they've never really needed much).
Some of them are, but PC's have just as many (possible more). You're just going to have that with any type of hardware system, which is a sad sad fact.

Meh, Macs have enough protection to guard against the main threats out there, and that's A-OK with me.

Really it just boils down to:
What do you need the machine to do, what tasks is it going to focus on.

I love my PC as a toy for games and such, word documents and other programs that are fairly simple.
But I use my Mac more, for photo editing and general use.
Macs are in general better for photo editing and the like (at least out of the box). However, I really only use my computer for MS Office, surfing the web, and gaming, so I don't really need any of the things that Macs excel at.

Agreed. Which is what people should take into consideration. What do they need the machine for, and is it going to cost more to make it do what is needed in the long run?

The Mac and PC were built for different thing, naturally they are going to have pros and cons over the other. Plus either one can be suped up enough to make the other look like a fool.

For graphic and extensive media types, I'd say a Mac is going to give you the best bang for your buck. If you need a machine that is for typical stuff and gaming, and you might have a fancy for the odd editing program here and there, a PC is probably a good choice for you.

Macs are for graphic and music designers or idiots, which I am neither.

I use my Windows/Linux laptop and primarily use windows.

My big problem with macs is that they're advertised everywhere like movies.

lots of words. [note: mild editing done for space reasons]
Actually the gist of my post was that neither are truly better then each other. I see no reason for the fanboy following they each seem to attract. It may have seemed negative of Macs, but really that was because it was answering your unfounded rhetoric that I constantly heard spewed forth by the Mac crowd. They all parrot the same five phrases that the Apple marketing department came up with.

This is a debate without end, as the merits of one vs the other are ignored in light of a fanatical devotion that I analogue to an almost religious devotion. Even in the absence of real solid evidence of their faith, and a vast amount of evidence against it they continue to believe. Shouting the same verses over and over again in unison. This kind of thing crops up in loads of places.

The fact that you got so upset over that post kinda lends credence to my claim that Mac users get a bit fanatical over their choice of computer, either that or it was so long you only skimmed it and missed the point. Who knows maybe you missed the point on purpose, lacking in faith in your choice you choose to lash out all that seem to threaten to bring your doubts to light.

PC, because it's what most of the world uses. Most computer programs are designed for PC and not Mac. Also, most businesses use PCs, so I might as well familiarize myself with them so I'll be ready when I begin my career.

I love the Mac's style though. Beautiful simplicity.
