Illusion is like having a win button. It made completing the main quest in Oblivion less tedious for me and I didn't even have to use the modding tools or console to cheat.

That's just the feeling I got. Its like someone accidentally attacking themselves as an argument, even if that was kinda your point. Its possibly also not classed as a 'school' of magic in a story context as you don't actually have to have an ounce of magical ability in you to learn what does what. Careful study will handle that. Well either Destruction for obvious reasons (kaPOW bitcheees!) or Illusion for mindfuckery. And well since I'm simply a sadist, I enjoy watching people fuck themsélfs up much more then when I fuck them up with a huge ball of fire. That's just...too simple.
Conjuration was always my favourite. Summoning demonic minions to do your bidding? Hell to the yes!
